Tracy Garrett | 2 comments Most likely 1970s. Plot as I remember it will contain spoilers...

A man either sees an object in an antique store window or just goes inside. He purchases this item and shortly has a monkey on his back. I think it is a real monkey, but nobody can see it.

I don't think the monkey wants anything from him. Maybe just someone to hang with? The monkey weighs him down and I think he is bent over.

He tries to return the item to the store as I guess he realizes they are tied together in some way. The store owner will not take the item back and possibly tells the man that he had it for a very long time and FINALLY got rid of it ...to him!

Not sure how the man can go about ridding himself of it. I don't remember if or how he ever does. I have no clue who the author was. I don't think the monkey ever talks to him.

Tracy Garrett | 2 comments Interesting! I guess he could have seen a doctor, but I feel as if he purchased an item of some kind and then tried to return it. I'm fairly certain he had a monkey on his back for most of the book that caused him to be bent over. I did get VERY excited to see someone had responded, but I don't think this is the same story. If the protagonist DOES end up with a monkey on his back, then I guess it is the same!

While viewing Songs the Dead Men Sing on Amazon, I think I would love this book, but the price is a bit steep :(
