Personally, I think the Great Perhaps is the defining moment Miles wanted at his new school. His whole life he didn't have any friends and wasn't good at anything (except memorizing people's last words), so I think he wanting to have something amazing happen at his new school. That is just my opinion, and I may be totally wrong. Let me know what you guys think!

I agree with you Sofia, I also think it's a defining moment or experience. Something that could turn his life around. It could also be a sort of self-transcendence,I'm not sure :)

Yes, exactly! Something that could turn his life around. Do you think he found the great perhaps? Was meeting Alaska his great perhaps?
Yes. I think he got more than he asked for when he met Alaska. Imagine meeting someone, just one person that has the power to turn your life around. Just imagine all the emotions Pudge felt when he was with Alaska that's enough to turn his life around
I think the Great Perhaps is the not yet known. Yes, definitely a life changing event or pivot-point in life, but the word 'perhaps' in itself means something unknown. The Great Perhaps was all of the possibilities and the thrill of the unknown that he was presented with when Miles met Alaska.
I always thought the great perhaps was the future, like perhaps everyhing has a reason and that we do not yet know what that reason is. Seeking the great perhaps then probably means that the seek a greater possiblity of futures.. i think Alaska sought the great perhaps because of her terrible past and so wished for a better future, but you dont know what the future holds, as pudge hoped for a good future with alaska, of which was cut shortjust my own theory :D

That makes a lot of sense! Alaska sought the Great Perhaps because she did not want her life to keep going the way it was going. I also think Alaska committed suicide though, so I guess she gave up on her Great Perhaps.

i dont think her primary intention was to commit suicide, but in her state at which it happened, the moment arised and she took it.
