Gretchen | 152 comments So many books, soooo little time.

I see all the books people read in these groups and it actually frustrates me that I can’t read them all. :(
So I shall carry on with what I can. :)

Nightia | 9 comments You do you! Remember that we all have different context, that includes different taste in books, different reading speed.. So some may read really dense books and that's slower or maybe larger books. So don't feel so down, the importance is that you enjoy what you're reading and not rush it just to acomplished a goal. So keep reading and don't stress to much.

Ashleigh Motbey (ashybear02) | 1686 comments Until this year, I was reading anywhere between 4-12 books a year, some of them audiobooks so not technically 'reading'. So for 2020 I set myself a goal to read every day, even if it's just a page. Up until this very day I have gotten into a habit of reading every day, and it has really increased my reading rate and speed and increased my tbr list lol.

I'm at 28, which to some is not much, plus some are audiobooks I've listened to, but it has really inspired me to read more and it has turned into a habit that I no longer have to even think about. I just do.

Hannah (hansrox) I feel you! I have so many unread books on my shelf and I just can’t get to all of them! I’m really trying to not think about the number of books I read and rather just take my time and enjoy the act of reading itself. Reading is supposed to be fun so I’m trying not to stress over stuff like that

Keri Sparks | 632 comments I can relate, but more in the way that I want to read everything on my bookcase at once because I'm in the mood for them all and can't pick just one. XD

We are also in different seasons of life :). My kids are in their 20s now, so I have a lot more reading time than I ever did before, especially with Covid. When I was in university, I didn't read any books for fun during the semesters so I would get my work done. When my kids were small, most of my reading was out loud to them.

Last year I read mostly shorter novels and nonfiction and read almost 3 times my previous record because of Covid. So far I'm not reading quite as many this year, but I'm also not playing any really intense reading games, either.

Gretchen | 152 comments Last year I did read a lot of books. This year I am struggling. Unfortunately, I have let myself in the crazy politics and am compelled to watch my cable news. Ugh.... :)

Appreciate all of the experiences of others. Thanks

Pervinca (pervincaperiwinkle) | 155 comments For me, the yearly reading challenge has taken me out of a really big reading slump. I've always loved reading, and was a teen when all the iconic YA books came out (the hunger games, shadowhunters, divergent, john Green's books, etc) and after that faded i didn't know what to read since those kind of books seemed childish but "adult" books were a bit boring

I started with reading 12 books a year, one per month; at first it was hard but then i started discovering new genres and authors i liked, and had a pretty big to read list!

This year i'm doing pretty fine: las month i read 4 books which might not seem like a lot, but it is for me. I'm so happy!

But I’m not a hater. Sometimes I want to because it takes over my life. I should be doing housework. But nope. There is a book. Calling out saying “read me, read me!”

Also, I’m not a troll. 😀

Of course you're not. Otherwise I would have to slay you. ;-)

Patricia Mae (patriciaflair) | 306 comments Yeah, me too. I'm a student too and I need to focus on my studies and I have no time to read. But if I have free time, I'll read...
