There are more than one might think, most of which are memoir/autobiography. A little-known one that I enjoyed is Down Second Avenue: Growing Up in a South African Ghetto by Ezekiel Mphahlele. There are also Before Night Falls by Reinaldo Arenas of Cuba, Promise at Dawn by Romain Gary, A Tale of Love and Darkness by Amos Oz of Israel and On the Road by Jack Kerouac.
The stories in Schindler's List, The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien and The Feast of the Goat by Mario Vargas Llosa are true but details are imagined I believe.
I have read all of these and most of those previously mentioned.

Confessions by Jean-Jacques Rousseau
Genesis Memory of Fire by Eduardo Galeano (although there are some folkloric components)

Bryan--The Bee’s Knees (theindefatigablebertmcguinn) | 629 comments I couldn't find Galeano's book on the List Challenge site--that's my only source for the list.

It's supposed to be Memory of Fire and not Genesis (Genesis is book 1 of Memory of Fire). I clicked on the wrong book in my search.

I see it now--thanks for setting me straight. I actually have Galeano's book Genesis, but I didn't know it was part of this trilogy. Something I grabbed at a thrift store I happened to be at because it looked interesting.

Jade_book_files26 | 1 comments The Tattooist of Auschwits is a must read next to Survival in Auschwits. Such a great read :)

James Spencer (jspencer78) | 258 comments However, the Tattooist if Auschwitz is fiction if based on interviews with Sokolov unlike Primo Levi’s Survival in Auschwitz.
