If you would like to know what book to movies are TENTATIVELY planned for 2016, here's the list I've compiled so far. We're still too far ahead for release dates, but I'll be editing the list as the studios release more info.

If you don't even want to think that far in advance, I hear you! But if you're like me and want to know if that book on your reading list is a soon-to-be movie, I'll share what I've come up with so far.

Alice is Wonderland 2 - 6/27
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll
Beautiful Ruins
Beautiful Ruins by Jess Walter
Me Before You
Me Before You by Jojo Moyes
The Choice
The Choice by Nicholas Sparks
The Light Between Oceans
The Light Between Oceans by M.L. Stedman
Eleanor & Park
Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell
All The Light We Cannot See
All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr

Did I miss a book to movie adaptation? Let us know what's coming!

Sara | 6 comments there was supposed to be a movie adaptation of a discovery of witches. it has been shelved as far as i know, but i was really looking forward to it.

Brandi | 65 comments These look good!! Don't forget that Pride & Prejudice kind of spin-off "Longbourne" is supposed to be in the works. Not sure release date though.

Sara,
You're so right! Unfortunately, it looks like Warner bought the rights, got a screenplay and put it in a drawer somewhere. They're prob waiting for Hunger Games, Divergent, and Fallen to settle down so they don't saturate that market.

Brandi,
Unfortunately, it's very unlikely we'll see Longbourne in 2016. From my research it doesn't even have a screenplay yet and they'd need to be getting ready to film now. Maybe 2017! Thanks for the reminder, love keeping the pulse on this stuff with all of you. :)

Hi Buffie!

That's a killer idea! Where do you recommend we meet up?

For 2015, I'm planning Des Moines & DC meet-ups.

For 2016, I've got Portland on the list for late January...and that's it so far!

message 7: by Brandi (new)

Brandi | 65 comments Lisamarie,

When will you be in DC? That's about 3 hours away from me & the drive would so be worth it to meet you!! :)

message 8: by Buffie (new)

Buffie | 7 comments I don't have a particular place in mind, but with advance notice, I would be able to meet anywhere in the lower 48. :)

Brandi,
That's a drive! I'm honored you'd be willing. Meet-up is Saturday April 11th at The W Hotel. Is that too soon after baby? If so, I could push it out a few weeks.

Buffie,
Wow, so cool you'd be willing to hit the road. Do we have any requests? Anything in Cali is a hop skip and a jump for me since my fam is there, but I'm always in to see a new city.

Brandi and I are planning to meet-up in Portland Jan 2016 for her bday 1/18. I make an annual January pilgrimage to Powell's to stock the library with used books from my wishlist and continue my love affair with Portlandia. I'm hitting the tarmac there Friday. :)

Emily, see you in Portland next year!

message 13: by Allyson (new)

Allyson McGill (afmcgill) Hi! I live right outside of DC, in Vienna, VA (Northern VA). I have put down your April 11th visit into my planner. Fun! What are you in town for?

message 14: by Sara (new)

Sara | 6 comments portland would be awesome! im only 45 min from there! so fun! i took my husband to Powell's for the first time a few months ago. he was in awe. somehow despite growing up in the area he'd never been!

message 15: by Megan (new)

Megan (meganrose) OMG, I'll take any chance and excuse to go to Portland. Consider that a for sure from me! What about Bay Area?

Allyson,
That would be so fun! I'm visiting my college roommate in Alexandria and doing some touristy things plus The Library of Congress of course. ;) I've never been!

Sara, see you January 2016!

So I'm packing for Portland and I tossed Love, Rosie in and then I was afraid I wouldn't have anything to read if I finish it, so I tossed in Vanity Fair as well. Only book addicts have a fear of running out of reading material on vacay! There's even a mini-Powell's in my hotel, I'm out of control!

Megan, likewise, adore Portland! See you there! The bay would be fun, maybe SF? Or would getting in and out of the city be too much? I grew up there so it's no biggie for me, and I'd bring my momma.

message 17: by Carolyn (new)

Carolyn Ryzanych | 2 comments Yea for SF. I'm in the Wine Country just an hour North of S.F.

message 18: by Megan (new)

Megan (meganrose) I have no problem getting in and out of SF so that would be a for sure one for me!

message 19: by Allyson (new)

Allyson McGill (afmcgill) Lisamarie, that sounds like a great trip! I hope we can squeeze in a visit, along with anyone else here who lives in the DC area.

message 20: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Harnitchek | 1 comments Denver!!! I live in Steamboat Springs and if the weather isn't crazy I could definitely drive down for the weekend!

Allyson and Lisamarie, I live in Alexandria! Lisamarie -- how weird your roommate lives here -- my daughter leaves next week for Buffalo, I'll have to tell her there's another USD grad in town! All this time! Weird! Sarah was women's manager at the G'town Urban Outfitters. Also, she has some friends about your age at the Capital and I have one at the Library of Congress if you want some personal tours. xo, Mary

Carolyn,
I grew up in Napa! Born and raised! Where do you live?

Megan,
Sounds like SF is on!

Lauren,
Denver we should absolutely do in March! Maybe we could meet at Wash Perk or D Bar?

Mary,
Oh wow, yes my bestie and college roomie all 4 years at USD lives in Alexandria now. I would LOVE a tour of the Library of Congress, that's so gracious!

message 27: by Rochelle (new)

Rochelle | 2 comments I'll be in Washington DC from April 10-13 for the Cherry Blossom festival as well as site seeing. It's a trip with my husband to celebrate my birthday and a time to check off two items of my life list. I would love to meet if there's a meet up in Washington DC. We will be staying at the Hilton Grand Washington DC Downtown.

I'm a born and raised Hawaii girl just enjoying the best of life while living on the east coast (Long Island, NY). Mahalo nui loa LisaMarie for having this fabulous book club with a bunch of great women that love books and reading. You are a good role model and inspiration.

message 28: by Allyson (new)

Allyson McGill (afmcgill) DC meet up in the futuresounds good! :-)

Rochelle, where are you on Long Island? I grew up in Queens.

Rochelle,

That is prefect timing! I'll be in town for the Cherry Blossom festive as well (checking that one off #33, #34, #35 off my life list!).
http://www.paperandglam.com/blog/life... - Woo Hoo!

We'll be meeting at the W at noon after the parade. :)

Rochelle | 2 comments Hi Allyson! Sorry for the delay, been crazy busy managing work and home life lately. Managing it well though. My husband and my four kids have been sick. Not at the same time though, thank goodness. I guess my immune system is stronger than I thought to endure a sick household. Anyways, I live in the northeast end of Long Island, NY more of Sound Beach/Miller Place. It's a nice suburban area. We are still trying to get used to living here. It's very different than Hawaii but change is good. Not liking the winter weather here for sure.

Very nice to meet you and I'll talk to you later. Hopefully I'll see you at the meetup in Washington DC since I'll be there in April for the Cherry Blossom festival.

T

Allyson McGill (afmcgill) Hi Rochelle and thank you for your reply. I am so sorry to hear about the epidemic in your home. That's rough. How old are your kids, by the way? And what brought you from Hawaii to Long Island? Which island did you live on back in Hawaii? My family and I vacationed on Kauai in August 2013 to celebrate their graduations from various schools and my husband's and my retirement. We all had a wonderful time.

I'll have to look up your town on the map. I grew up in Fresh Meadows (in between Flushing and Jamaica), but my dad lived out on Long Island. We also went there throughout the year to get our Halloween pumpkins, etc. Since I'm now 61, I'm sure it's changed a lot, but maybe not as much toward the end of the island.

That would be fun if you can make it down for the Cherry Blossoms!

Stay well & keep warm. :-)

Allyson
