Contour (Shape of You, #1) by Meg Harding Contour
Read: 10/13
Pages: 200/GR
Rating: 4 Stars
Qualifies: Published January 23rd 2018 by Oceanside Press
Review: I wasn't sure about this one since this is a new to me author, but I was very hopeful based on the description. I'm so glad I gave it a shot. Jamie and Tyler were great together. The story is very "now", with Jamie being a Youtube sensation with tons of followers and Tyler a famous Instagram model. But I didn't feel that their careers took over the story at all. There was wonderful chemistry between them, and I thought the way that Jamie overcame his problems with intimacy and opened up to having a relationship and falling in love felt very natural. I loved the banter between them too. Overall, a really good story and I'm definitely going to be looking to read more from this author.

Hawke (Cold Fury Hockey, #5) by Sawyer Bennett
pages: 246 kindle edition
rating: 3 stars
qualifies: published March 15, 2016
review: This is one of the series that I like coming back to but I definitely haven't read it in order so it's always nice to catch up with characters in past books and see how they are doing. My favorite thing about this book is that Hawke is originally from Nova Scotia (the province I live in) and there are several references to the Q ( hockey league) and Sydney (city) that I get! I like the relationship between Hawke and Vale but at the same time I don't. If I sum it up this book is really about immaturity and lack of communication otherwise there would be no conflict. I do like both characters but at the same time this was not my favorite book from the series. The secondary storyline of Vale's dad being sick had more oomph to it. Hoping the next book has a bit more everything to keep me more engaged.

In the Shadows (Metahuman Files, #3) by Hailey Turner In the Shadows
Read: 10/14
Pages: 368/GR
Rating: 5 Stars
Qualifies: Published August 22nd 2017
Review: This book is my favorite in the Metahuman Files series. Alexei and Sean are each fascinating characters with very cool powers, Alexei as pyrotechnic and Sean able to phase out his physical body. I loved these two together. They had tons of chemistry and I loved the pet names Alexei came up with for Sean. This book is also my favorite since it's not so heavy on the plotline, it's more focused on the developing relationship between these two, which I really like. There is still lots of bad guys and gunfire, but the love story doesn't take a back seat. Great story all the way through.

Murphy Murphy (Satan's Fury MC Memphis, #4) by L. Wilder

Qualifies: Memphis in the series name Satan's Fury MC - Memphis
Rating: 4 star
Review:This was pretty good but it felt so quick. I was just getting into the romance and then it sort of felt over.i'd have preferred longer but it was still a nice romance and I like Riley and Murphy.

47. Read 5 books set in a major city

Heart of Iron (London Steampunk, #2) by Bec McMaster
pages: 448 kindle edition
read: Oct 15
rating : 4 stars
qualifies: series title ( London Steampunk, #2) see series title
review: I think I enjoyed this book even more than book 1.(which I really liked) I liked the chemistry between Will and Lena. Will slowly sees himself as something other than "monster" thanks to Lena. Sexy, smart, action packed, political intrigue; this one has it all. My only disappointment is once Lena has the loupe there is little more mention of it. Hoping to see these characters again as the series progresses!

Breakout Breakout (San Francisco Strikers, #1) by Stephanie Kay
Read: 16th October
Pages: 324
Rating: 4 stars
Qualifies: Series:San Francisco Strikers
Review: This was sweet.
So they meet in Italy on her would be honey moon but she runs out on him because shes feeling more than she wants to. You don't really see this happening its just told to you so I think it may have helped seeing that or reading that but its not really the point.
Their families suck, I'd have liked more resolution for that but hey ho I'll take what I can get. I do like the couple and I liked their romance!

Read 5 books set in a major city

Innocent in Death (In Death, #24) by J.D. Robb Innocent in Death
Read: 10/16
Pages: 401/GR
Rating: 5 Stars
Qualifies: MPG setting: New York
Review: This is one of my favorites in the In Death series. The murderer in this one is unexpected, and it's a twisty convoluted road to finally catch them. Eve stands her ground even when her team doubts her, and uses the murderer's own cleverness against them. It was masterful.
I also love how Eve handles Roarke and his "old flame" at the end, with the solid punch in the face. Classic.

review: Oh, boy. Well I loved, loved, loved that book. The world building was great, characters were flawed but awesome. I can't wait to see where the rest of this series goes as there are a few characters I hope to see more of!

Ohhh, you're reading Psy-changeling series for the first time?! You are going to love it. As for book 2, for me it was even better than the first book. Now I want to go back and do a re-read from the beginning too. I think this is my favorite all-time series of hers, it's sooo good.

message 424: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2513 comments Yes, first time reading the series. Do you know what is aggravating... when your local library has book 1 of a series but then doesn't get the rest of the series... only bits and pieces of the series are there. I can acess book 2 through my hoopla account but only on audiobook and I prefer a physical book or ebook to audio.

Megan | 1024 comments Laura wrote: "Oh my heart is still fluttering from reading Slave to Sensation. This book definitely tops her Guild Hunters series.. I hope book 2 doesn't leave me disappointed!"

Wooo! Im glad you liked it. It was my first of her work and I liked it too. Eldarwen talked me into reading it for Wheels in the summer and I really enjoyed it too.

Yeah I think youre sort of lucky they had number 1. My library sucks for that sort of genre. Its frustrating when they have random books of the series could you request number 2 though?

message 426: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2513 comments I have requested before and been told no so I don't tend to ask. Book 2 and 3 aren't at my library. ( I didn't look further) Thankfully both are on OverDrive and Hoopla so I can continue the series! I suspect my library is the same... not a huge supporter of the paranormal genre.

I am happy to loan out books if you can't get them online. Just send me your address and I can mail it out to you. This series is so amazing that I would hate it if you couldn't finish it just because it's not available at the library. 😊

message 428: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2513 comments Thanks Alicia for the offer. I have the next few on Hoopla so I'm good so far. The audio isn't bad, I just can't listen as fast as I can read and I often get distracted and lose my place so I prefer to read. If I can't access any I will let you know.

So assuming it’s going to be Nadia Lee, I’ve picked out Marrying My Billionaire Boss by Nadia Lee , but I’ll wait to start reading until after I hear from you all 😊

Review: This is a new to me author recommended by Megan! I enjoyed this story as it was quick, easy, sexy and funny. Cute relationship between the two main characters and a great relationship between three best friends. Jan's character showed definite growth which I enjoyed. I'm interested to read more Nadia Lee to see how Sammy's story goes!

Review: I enjoyed this story about a personal assistant, Evie, and her boss Nate. It was a pretty standard story, but the characters were enjoyable and the story kept my interest, even if the plot was predictable and a bit ridiculous. But the story was fun and I will probably read more from this author.

MountainKat | 31597 comments Here is Task 18:

11. Read 4 3 books in continuing series, one that has not been completely published.

The books selected for this task need to be in a series listed on GR and not completed, meaning there are books planned but not yet released. Please include a link to the series page showing the pending book or a link to the author's website showing the planned book. The pending book needs to have an expected release date listed - not just one the author says is coming but has no plans to actually write it at this time.

Do I sound a little bitter? Yeah, I've been burned waiting for those books... 😒😂

message 449: by Megan (new)

Megan | 1024 comments Ergh this takes me back to when I was really into a series from an author got to one of the last books and found the next book didn't exist and the previous one was a cliffhanger. Its been 4 years I think now and still no book and doesn't seem likely to ever get one the authors just vanished. :(

The Tracker Hive Academy: Year Three works for this task so going to read that :)

message 450: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2513 comments I'll be a bit cheeky on this one and read Stalked (Lucy Kincaid, #5) by Allison Brennan . New book in the series is expected to be released at the end of the month🙂
