Got it and was able to check your book. I don't know what happened, but your profile was private this time. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Maybe you accidentally clicked a box or maybe it happened during an update. GR can be weird sometimes! Either way, we are good now. 😊

Laura | 2513 comments completion post- task 3

12. Read a book recommended to you by a teammate- no pass for this task.
Fool Me Once (First Wives #1) by Catherine Bybee
Fool Me Once
Read: September 18
pages: 350 kindle edition (GR)
rating: 3 stars
qualifies: on Megan's rec shelf
review: Slower start to this story = A lot of drama, a tiny bit of heat, a little suspense and some interesting characters eventually make this an enjoyable read. I do like that this series connected a few characters from another series that I started by Bybee. I prefer the other series to this one.

AliciaJ | 1868 comments Completion Post - Task 3
12. Read a book recommended to you by a teammate - no pass for this task.

Mean Streak Mean Streak by Sandra Brown
Read: 9/18
Pages: 417
Rating: 5 Stars
Qualifies: On Laura's Rec Shelf
Review: I usually enjoy Sandra Brown's stories, and this was no different. The mystery kept me on my toes, more about trying to figure out Hayes and his hidden past than anything else. He was a compelling character and the layers of his past kept me glued to the pages trying to decipher any little clue. I also really like Emory, she was a strong female character, which is typical for a Sandra Brown book. This one was a definite winner.

Glad you liked it Alicia. I used to read SB as a teenager. Lol I listened to the audio and enjoyed it. I think the mystery around Hayes definitely added to this story.

Megan | 1024 comments I'm reading Cool Hand by Mark Henwick

Question, how can I prove this is a dude? Common sense ruling or did you want to see "Male" cause aside from the use of he on his bio on his website there isn't anything that says he is a he. Does this make sense? Not trying to be awkward just don't want to do it wrong.

Books do not have to be romance but do need to be fiction. ( found that in post 3...at the bottom. )
I don't have anything by my favorite male authors- Lee Child & John Lescoroat. I'm on the hunt.

17. Read 4 3 books written by a male author.

A Noise Downstairs by Linwood Barclay
pages: 368 kindle edition (GR)
read: Sept 20
qualifies: male author, profile page- Linwood Barclay
rating: 3 .5 stars
review: I always enjoy Linwood Barclay's books and this time was no different. I had the mystery figured out and some of the why but not the (view spoiler). A few twists at the end I didn't forsee all make for an entertaining mystery. Recommend if you are looking for a good, quick, read.

AliciaJ | 1868 comments Completion Post - Task 4

17. Read 3 books written by a male author.

Tracker Hacker Tracker Hacker by Jeff Adams
Read: 9/20
Pages: 194
Rating: 2.5 Stars
Qualifies: Written by Jeff Adams
Review: This had potential to be an enjoyable story, but it wasn't really my cup of tea. Theo/Winger is a junior in high school who also works as tech support for a secret organization called TSO. I liked the premise of the story, but honestly the writing felt dull and very slow-paced. I was expecting some suspense and fast action scenes, but what I got was a lot of explanations about how computer coding and hidden trackers work. It was boring for me, but others who really like young adult romance might like it.

Dirty English (English, #1) by Ilsa Madden-Mills
read: Sept 21
pages: 272 kindle edition (GR)
rating: 4 stars
qualifies: KarenH's read shelf
review: This was a quick, easy read that I enjoyed very much. I like the chemistry between Declan & Elizabeth. Despite this story being a typical college story: hot guy, hot girl, catty girl(s), best friend, small conflict and resolution with a HEA it was exactly what I needed tonight. I can't wait to read Dex's story.

Read: 22nd Sept
Pages: 254
Rating: 4 Stars

Review: This was nice. I don't think it was as good as previous books but I did like Julian and Kristin, she cold have done with a bit more personality but aside from that she was nice.

Not sure. Its all mixed signals at the moment. Our work is making us go back in after the government said everyone should and now they're back tracking saying don't if you don't have to and can work from home. I can just see it coming.

Crave The Night (Midnight Breed, #12) by Lara Adrian Crave the Night
Read: 9/22
Pages: 288
Rating: 5 Stars
Qualifies: Found on MKat's Read Shelf
Review: Wow, I knew Nathan's story was going to be good, but I had no clue. This was explosive, exciting, and intense. A kick-ass ride from start to finish. And I loved Jordanna, she was perfect for him. Soft, but with steel on the inside, she was able to stand up and make her own decisions and face the consequences. It was epic. Now I'm totally jazzed to read the next book in the series and see what else is in store for the Order and their mates.

So are you going to be working from home Megan? I've been doing the work from home thing since March, and it's really not fun. I ended up taking a leave of absence for now so I can concentrate on my family and keep my sanity. 😊

message 192: by Megan (new)

Megan | 1024 comments Yeah my husband and I work for the same place and so we both worked from home from March, then lockdown was eased and nobody in my husbands team wanted to go back so they made the whole team go back as a way to be 'fair'. I'm doing 2-3 days in the office under protest, but we're a team of 5 and they want two in each day and 3 of the guys have kids so child care was a huge issue.

Sorry you had to take a leave of absence. Its been so difficult hasn't it though not even from the panic just not being able to go out really affects your mental heath.

Yes, exactly. My work started doing the same thing, making it mandatory for everyone to work two days/ week in the office, rather or not you were high risk, or taking care of family that is high risk. It really really upset me, especially since my mother is very ill and I'm her primary caretaker. It's just easier to go on leave.

Heavy rains and high winds are expected but we should be okay. Since it's downgraded from hurricane categories to post tropical we won't get the devastation that other areas were hit with.
It's difficult to get the dog out to do her business though, the rain is coming down so hard. Every time I try it rains harder:-) I don't mind putting on a rain coat but every time I open the door its torrential rains.

Megan | 1024 comments I don't blame you Alicia, its awful being forced. I don't get the reasoning when its worked well working from home for the past 5/6 months. I'm hoping work will change their mind but I think its unlikely unless the UK calls for another lockdown.

Oh no! Does your dog like to go out in the rain, mines a proper princess and won't go outside.
