Task #4 ~ Stop #30. Read 6 books with nekkid man chest on the cover.
Book: War 4* ✔️ 10/2
Pages: 502 pages
Qualifications: Chest exposed on the cover
Review: So, picture the Dothraki & (view spoiler) from GOT. Oh yes, Khal Drogo was my War! 😍

God was he ever sexy! & Terrifying & All. The Things. He was so loving towards her.

I love that this was a new take on the horsemen. It wasn't a total different part of the world and it was a total new message. This message was for both of them. I loved their back-and-forth banter and this book had some of my favorite quotes. The only thing wrong with it was I feel like it went on too long. Seriously, it was over 500 pages!
Fave quotes...
"Loss," he says. He's quiet for a moment. "It's one of the most common aspects of war, and yet I've never experienced it."["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
"You better hope you never do," I say thinking of my family all over again.
Loss is a wound that never heals. Never never never. It's scabs over, and for a time you can almost forget it's there, but then something– a smell, a sound, a memory - will split that wound– a smell, a sound, a memory - will split that wound wide open right open, and you'll be reminded again that you're not whole. That you'll never fully be whole again.
"My brothers and I can all do the opposite of our powers – Pestilence can spread sickness and cure it. Famine can destroy crops and grow them. Death can give and take life at will." War pauses. "I can injure... and I can heal."
I don't know what to say to that I think my mind is being blown right now. They were all tasks to end Humanity ... but they were also given the tools to save it.
"I still hate you," I say, without any heat. Mostly because I need to remind myself.
I draw those words around me like a cloak.
The corner of his mouth curves up. "I'm aware," he says. 🤣🤣🤣

IDK he was in that but I know Jason Mamoa was new Aquaman too! Rawr! 😍😍😍😍😍

Loving this series! This world is so interesting in its' sci-fi elements as well as the powers that Splice forces on the Metahumans it creates. I really loved seeing Jamie and Kyle get to have a little more of a relationship outside of the close knit nature of the team as they still have to hide their relationship from their bosses at MDF. But this mission allows them to pretend to be together as part of their cover so if the rest of the MDF thinks it's fake at least they can have those real moments together.
This books builds on the first really well. Terrorists around the world are attempting to use Splice to build their own forces of Metahumans with whatever humans they can get their hands on, not always willingly. The MDF really needs to find out where they're developing the chemical so they can shut down these efforts. Jamie's family history is just the sort of rich, prominent family background that seems to tempt these criminals and may just give them the inroads they need to find out exactly what's going on. Of course it means Jamie taking on a persona he hasn't participated in in years, since going the military and then MDF.
I can't wait for the next book in this series. I love seeing how this story grows and more elements of the criminal underworld are exposed by the action of Jamie, Kyle and their team. They're a fun group and their banter is always entertaining.

Awesome! I will ck out your read Shelf again

So I didn't love the first half of this story and the relationship development of these two. The age gap between Bacon and Spencer didn't really seem all that relevant at least, it just felt a little awkward while they were out on the mission. Somehow the tension and frustration of the situation for Bacon just didn't feel like a sexual tension building as well. I felt his frustration about begin stuck on the outside with the team more than any real attraction to Spencer.
Now once they broke through that into trying to work on a relationship the book got much better. I liked watching them work out how they were going to make a relationship work between an active duty Seal and a reporter. They were a good couple and even the eventual struggles they had worked in a pigheaded male sense.
Happy to keep reading this series. :)

OMG!!!! Jason Mamoa!!!! I LOVE HIM!!!!! Thanks for the pictures Mama ;-)

Review:
This was a cute story.
Bella finally got to go away even if it was for an internship but what she got was a lot more. Not only did she show how talented she was but is in Greece!
Adrian is the rich boy who isn't trusting when it comes to women because he believes they're only dating him for his money and it doesn't help that his mom is always trying to play matchmaker.
These two characters seem like a perfect match when it comes to team work but as their relationship progresses, they both seem at odds about the elephant in the room

So it'd been so long since I read the first book in this series I thought I'd skim it and catch myself up before reading this one. Yeah, I remembered nothing and this magic/shifter world is completely different than any other and all too quickly I got sucked into the book so basically read the entire thing so that I could read this one.
Gotta say I am so happy I read this book now. I had forgotten how good the first book was when it came out and really happy I came back to this. I loved this book. I love this whole pack. Tank is such a sweetie and Isaac is unique in what he is. There was so much to love about this story. The information about Isaac's past is slowly revealed over the course of the story and even when you suspect some of what's coming there was a lot to learn about how he got to be how he was. Tank's slow steady presence and his wish to be nothing more than what Isaac needed was just so lovely. I found this story to be touching in just how much everyone needed that little extra care that Isaac could provide, but that Isaac probably needed what Tank gave him even more.
I really enjoyed every element of this story, from Isaac learning to trust in Tank to giving his pack a chance. I loved his introduction to the pack and how Alec handled everything. I want to jump into the next book immediately! This was just such fun and the characters are all really great. The world building is different and makes the things interesting instead of this being just another shifter world.

Review: I'm having fun with this new cozy series I found. The MC had just learned in book 1 she is a vampire by blood and has no idea what the paranormal world has to offer. As she tries to navigate finding out about Vampires and Shifter Wolves from her aunts who don't like to be forthcoming with information there is yet another murder to solve at the B&B she is helping her aunts revive.

This book had two parts. The first part was about mace and Dez. The second part was about Ronnie and Shaw.
I really liked Mace & Dez. Ronnie & Shaw were kinda Meh. I can't wait for the next book because it's going to be about Mace's BFF, Smitty. I love that southern boy. And his sister, Sissy Mae, Oh. My. Lanta! She is a hoot & a Half so I can't wait to get to her book too.

Fixed. Sorry about that. I need to do a better job tracking which challenges require a specific edition posted. I'm a horrible person who generally just posts whatever the first edition on the list is. Come on GR - do a better job and tell us in the little dropdown what each edition is so we don't have to go fishing. :-p

I am less concerned about which edition is linked, only that the page count you use is correct. 😊 Don't stress about the link - I almost always have to check the editions anyway. The only time it really matters is if you need a specific edition for the qualification - something on the cover or a foreign language edition.

Review: Joe was a lying, cheating, jerk. Not sure how Joan stayed with him that long but I guess when someone tries to believe that things will get better when everyone around her knows that it will never change. I wasn't sure whether to scream or yell "leave the jerk!" Joan was definitely strong for her children to the end. She never let anyone see what she was feeling except that one moment and wow I bet she was expecting the warmth and understanding. In the end, I think Joe got what he deserved.

Review: Another solid entry into this series. This is an earlier one, I've read much later in the series as well. I always wish Madame would play a bigger role, as she just cracks me up. This one still has her just flittering with the local detective and trying to break from the ex that likes to throw on the charm that snagged her to begin with. As always Claire finds herself trying to clear someone's name that she knowns has to be innocent and finds herself skirting around danger.

I believe we do.

You know I have really just one big complaint with this series at this point...why does everything have to be with a big huge age gap? Seems like every book in this series at this point has one and I'm never really sure why. That being said I did enjoy this book a lot. Dante and Magnus were a good balance for each other and I felt for both men and the trauma they'd had in their pasts.
This story had less of the suspense elements than some of the others. Sure Dante was ostensibly there to protect Magnus from any potential threats as he testified in a high profile case. His last act as a Texas Ranger before moving officially to Seattle. But ultimately that threat felt more like an excuse to have Dante tag along so this story could happen. This story was really about both men dealing with and moving forward from their pasts. Dealing with both loss and hope.
I liked these two and how they worked through things. Accepting something good in his life wasn't easy for Dante. He really struggles to believe that he is deserving of anything and that he shouldn't be punished for something that wasn't even his fault. Magnus' struggle is more with coming to terms with the idea of being attracted to a guy, and to moving on from his daughter's death.
I'm looking forward to continuing the series. Think I'm finally getting close to the "end" of the published books in the greater world as a whole.

Sorry, yeah I was. And that's right back where I'm headed. Sooooooooooooooooo many more dishes to create so we don't waste any of the books we read.
