Task 1 ~ Stop 0. Favorite month of 2019
Team Selection: November
Book: The Reindeer Falls Collection 4* ✔️ 9/16
Pages: 372 pages
Qualifications ~ Published November 25th 2019
Review: FAF. I needed something funny that I could listen to & this definitely fit the bill. I will definitely read the rest of the series this holiday season because these sisters are so hilarious. #CountdowntoDickmas! I do wish it would have been a dual POV. I really could have used Nick's thoughts.

*Her packing for Germany*
Book #1 was the Funniest. LOVED IT! The sisters are hilarious! I really liked book #1 the best outta the 3 of them. Maybe because when they went to Germany as I lived there for five months I could really put myself in the story and be at the Christmas Market. Also the love and romance in book one was better than Book 2 and book 3. Book 2 with a little 2 quick for me as far as their Romance. Book 3 I really liked Noel's interaction at the community center with the older ladies. I was wanting to save these other two stories for closer to Christmas but due to this challenge I had to read them all. I love this little town of Reindeer Falls. I wanna live there! Favorite Quotes
" and now he's all mine. Merry Christmas to me."
"I will 1 star you on Yelp."
" I can't deal with you right now, Ginger. I have actual real life problems. Like what I wrinkle my nose at her because I'm not sure what problems she could possibly have that she didn't have the last time I saw her a mere week ago. I slept with Santa Claus last night, for starters.">

Qualifications: total standalone. Not listed as part of series.
Review: this was a type of retelling of the couple Helen of Troy and Paris but this version was a What if aftereffect. So, in this version after Helen and Paris died, Paris was turned a vampire and Helen was Reborn as a maiden of Artemis. Paris retained his memory, Helen did not & Menelaus was a demon king. The story was all about Menelaus and Paris fighting over Helen again and the couple getting their vengeance. There were nods to Harry Potter with the dark wood and spiders along with spells witches and Dragons. I'm normally love Celia Aaron, but in this instance it was more of Meh. My opinion is she needs to stick to with what she knows which is dark romance.

So first of all I did really enjoy this book and kept wanting to read to find out what was going to happen next, but also to figure out just what in the hell was going on in the first place. This was a case where the author might have taken the element of a "fish out of water" main character a step too far in regards to how that confusion plays out with the reader. Taji is a linguist and as such is working as the translator and cultural guide to the ambassador for the I.P.T.C. to the Sha. But because he really has no clue about the world he's working in and is trying to figure it out has he goes a long, we as an audience are left just as confused for the majority of the book. There were times where a little more clarity would have really helped the reading of the book.
That being said, I did really enjoy the characters and the political intrigue of this story. Taji and Trenne were a fun couple to spend some time with. I liked how things developed between them and the cultural misunderstanding that results in the opportunity for Taji to get a chance with Trenne in the first place. I think the thing that bothered me the most though was that even if Trenne wasn't exactly Sha, he still understood and knew a heck of a lot more than Taji did about things and the language and yet doesn't ever just sit down and try to give him pointers or explain things. He just lets Taji bumble around until he runs into trouble. Sure it set up the plot to work at various times, but just didn't make logical sense since Trenne wasn't forced to be working for the ambassador as a reluctant security. He made the choice to leave for the I.P.T.C and has been with them for awhile fighting in different battles around the galaxies. So why he doesn't pull Taji aside, even in the beginning and work with him to give him a better understanding of the dynamics at play never really made sense to me. He may not have understood everything being from the caste he was, but he certainly got more of what was going on and why people were fighting over Taji than Taji did.
I really enjoyed this story though and was definitely drawn in trying to figure out all of the political and social ramifications of what was going on. There were some really quality elements of world building here and a few things that got muddled a bit because as I said I felt like things tried to too hard to keep you as the reader as confused as Taji was by the world the was forced to navigate. It felt too often like people just let him bumble when they could have explained just so Taji could have an ah ha! moment.

Review: I wasn't sure if I was going to give this book the extra 1/2 star because Millie was so annoying with her drama over her high school crush. Listen that's why its called a crush and then she finally finds out that all her dreams of Joe was just that a dream because he didn't seem to have grown. She did find something that she was missing and was right in front of her face, Sam!! He's a good man and a great dad too. Things get complicated but in a good way and that's when I gave in and gave the half star. If Millie was my friend or sister would have slapped her in the beginning of the story. LOL

Review: Enjoyable middle-grade fantasy book. Magical languages that typically a mage can only speak one. But the MC's brother can speak all of the known 9. MC is not magical, but loves to strategize and be the brains behind her brothers magical plots. Myths and legends speak of other languages of magic that have been locked away from previous mages because they were too dark....but the quest is on, between the king that overthrew their mother and sent them on the run to locate these, because he wants to finish the family off for good. What are these languages and who can find them first and figure out if someone can speak them.

Review ~ oh it was nice to get back to my Delta Force Heroes! I really liked Coach & Harley. I love these guys like family. I can't believe it's taking me so long to get back too damn. For some reason I kept putting this book off because I really didn't feel connected to the character coach prior to this book. But even when you don't feel a connection this author is really good at giving you one anyway. I love the way she put more going in about truck and Mary and cannot wait to get to their book. And she is also told us about a new character fish who will be showing up. I can't wait for his book. Although him losing his entire team and now being chaptered out because of losing his arm oh, I'm sure that will be an ugly cry and just don't know if I have it in me for that. All in all absolutely all read my guys again.

Review: The "mouse" escapes an abusive relationship hoping to start over in an unexpected inheritances of a dilapidated inn with her sisters. The oldest "Steel Magnolia" sister has a secret that has made her harbor a secret that is costly to her sister's hope to make a go of the inn. Escaping an abusive relationship of course makes her skittish of all men and opening up to allow another in. Isn't that always when love tries to find you?

So I'm torn on this one. First I love this series and the world and all its intrigues are awesome. I actually really loved Tansy and her powers were really cool and interesting. I'd give this book a solid 4.5 stars for the plot points. But the romance in this one just didn't work for me. It was way too insta-lovey with no actual development of the relationship. I never felt like Kadan adapted much to having Tansy in his life. I enjoy all those alpha male stories in large part because you get to see the vulnerability with the woman in their life. I never really felt like Kadan softened any or was willing to compromise with Tansy much. It just was suddenly, we're in love, you will marry me, and do what I say. I never really felt like there was much development between them both. Though again I loved Tansy's powers and how her psychometry worked to track killers.
This one will go in the banks as not one of my favorite in the series even though I loved all the other characters appearances and Tansy herself. Really I liked Kadan on his own too, I just didn't like how little time was spent on the romance and development of that aspect of these characters.

Review: Both characters have scars that either people see or don't see but West and Grace see it in each other. I found that these characters were meant to meet each other and both of their lives had rough moments. You feel their pain and sorrow but also enjoy what they bring out in each other. This was an enjoyable story of second chances at finding yourself.
