Fall '20 Read-a-Thon: The Weasley Family
I'm going to add my tracking to this team, but I won't participate in the guessing! Just wanted to let y'all know! Go Weasleys!

I'm guessing we're the latest time zone, so we'll consistently be the last the update! I don't know why I got up at 5:00 a.m., but I'll be back to update once I actually get up for the day :) Go Weasleys!!!
I've read 66 pages so far of Dragonflight, all from the middle of the night trying to get my 3 and a half month old to go back to sleep.
Good morning Weasleys! I started a collection of short stories this morning which I’ll probably finish today. Also started a very interesting ebook about Stalin’s daughter. It’s rather long and will take awhile to read but it will count for pages. I was reading it while walking the dog! I have a few other short books I plan to read and finish. This Readathon is the push I needed to knock off a few more prompts! Go Team! 📖📖📖
Hello! It’s my first time joining a readathon. I like it that we’re going by pages read, so I can read whatever I want and it’ll count!
Yay! You get one guess for each book completed, so feel free to decide on a letter and submit a guess!
Hi all!
When you decide on which letters you want to guess, please have one team member submit their guess on this thread:
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
Be sure to include your team name and the letter you'd like to guess!

Only read 116 pages today. Had the baby most the day by myself so not as much time to read as I would have liked. Will probably have some time in the middle of the night again though
Excellent Pam! Your team has 3 available guesses. Don't forget to submit them on the submissions thread I posted above.
After much thought, I decided to lower the page requirement to more closely match the audiobook requirement.
You may now earn one guess for every 1000 pages.
The first post in this thread has been updated to reflect that change.

Thanks Emily. 1000 pages seems more fair than 2000, given the 5h audiobook requirement.I'll put in a guess for S. Then we'll have one more guess available.
Imma guess the first word is The :)I'm glad for this read-a-thon that pages and and hours count for a lot because the books I'm reading are long!
This is a wild guess, but it fits – I think the first book is The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. We'll find out after S and H get added to the spreadsheet.
I guessed the lettere R. I think Pam's and Maggie's guesses are correct. I think R is the 5th guess after which we can make the guesses official? Is that how this works? (And I'm reading the Splendid and the Vile which has been sitting on my desk since it came out. Taking advantage of this read-a-thon to tackle it.)
Because I gave you a free vowel for your first puzzle, you only need 4 guesses before solving your puzzle. Feel free to submit your guess on the guesses thread!
Ok, I submitted our title guesses! Hope everyone had a nice Sunday! I’ve got 3 books in the works. Hope to finish 1 tomorrow. It’s a mid-grade level so its easy reading.
Sorry for the late update, I’m hoping to finish 2 books later today! Great work so far everyone!! :)
Thanks Devin! If it's ok with everybody, let's guess T and S? Then we have two more guesses still available.
Hey team! I finished a book yesterday (yay!) and updated my page and audio count.
Y'all have 7 guesses available right now, so I would definitely submit a couple letters if you have an idea of what may be good to guess.

I’ve been thinking about this. It could end with -tion or -ting or be something else entirely like mystery or history. The third word might be the family word, maybe wife or aunt? I suggest we guess R or N (or both).
I'm going to sleep, so I don't know if R and N made it onto the spreadsheet. Perhaps The Westing Game is the answer? Westing being the family name. If it fits and everyone agrees, perhaps someone else could guess a fifth letter then post it.
PUZZLE 3: ON THE MAP
This puzzle includes cities, countries, and any other specific named geographical feature. In this case, it will be a book title that contains a location, fictional or real.

I finished a book so we earned another guess! I would put in two, and if they work, you can guess the title. If not, we have plenty to spare!

This week we are taking on Wheel of Fortune! We may be missing Pat and Vanna (for those of us in the US), but this game is guaranteed to be just as much fun.

How It Works:
As a team, you will track your pages read, audio hours listened to, and books completed. Then, you will turn these into letter guesses to complete the fill-in-the-blank puzzle, Wheel of Fortune style.
You can earn (1) guess by:
- Reading 1000 pages as a team
- Listening to 5 hours of audio as a team
- Finishing one book
The Rules:
1. Each guess earned = 1 letter for the team to guess.
2. You may only guess consonants (no buying vowels in this game - so no A, E, I, O, or U).
3. You must make at least 4 guesses before solving the puzzle.
4. You do not have to have an available guess in order to guess the puzzle. If you guess the puzzle incorrectly, however, you will forfeit your next team guess.
5. When you solve the puzzle, you will move on to the next one!
Each puzzle has a different category that will give you a clue into the book title. Because the formatting is weird on Goodreads, check your group spreadsheet to see your progress of your puzzle. You will also record your progress and earn your guesses on the spreadsheet.
FIND YOUR SPREADSHEET HERE!
PUZZLE 1: BEFORE AND AFTER
This category will require TWO book titles, with one book title ending with the same beginning title word as the second book. The word that the two titles have in common is shaded green on your spreadsheet.
A House in the Sky/Sky in the Deep (But you would only guess the word "sky" once.)
PUZZLE 2: FAMILY
The puzzle is the name of two or more famous people who are closely related, or rarely, the name of a well-known family. In this case, it will be a book that contains the name of a family or multiple people, or will have a family relation name as part of the title (sisters, brothers, etc.).
PUZZLE 3: ON THE MAP
This puzzle includes cities, countries, and any other specific named geographical feature. In this case, it will be a book title that contains a location, fictional or real.
PUZZLE 4: THINGS
These book titles will all start with the word "The".
PUZZLE 5: RHYME TIME
The puzzle is a phrase with rhyming words in it or a list of thematically similar things whose names rhyme. In this case, the book title will have a rhyme or alliteration within the title.
PUZZLE 6: WHAT ARE YOU DOING?
The book title will (sort of) answer this question.
Since you made it through the first six puzzles I had planned in record speed, you are now entering our LIGHTNING ROUND!
New Rules for the Lightning Round:
- You must get either 2000 pages, 10 audio hours, or 2 books in order to earn one guess.
- In addition to vowels, you are not allowed to guess R, S, or T!
*All previously earned guesses will carry over into the lightning round.
PUZZLE 7: BEST SELLER
This book has been in the first place spot on the NY Times Best Sellers list.
PUZZLE 9: PERSON
Book titles in this category contain someone's first and/or last name.
