I learned from Shirley Chisholm that she was definitely Unbought and Unbossed especially during her era late 1960s and early 1970s when women were not held in high regard in politics. You could not buy her and she was her own boss. I was not surprised, but as a woman I could relate. She wanted to delay medical treatment to campaign. Women often delay medical treatment for the benefit of helping others. I was surprised she considered suicide after a failed relationship.
My favorite chapter was Chapter 10 titled “How I View Congress.” This chapter tells how so little gets done in the Congress - then and now to help the people. She was so frank about it.
Yes, I would recommend this book: “Unbought and Unbossed.” It was first published in 1970 but still relevant today.
A final comment regarding Shirley Chisholm’s book Unbought and Unbossed. An excerpt: My significance, I want to believe, is not that I am the first Black woman elected to the U.S. Congress, but that I won public office without selling out to anyone. When I wrote my campaign slogan, “Unbossed and Unbought,” it was an expression of what I believe I was and what I want to be - what I want all candidates for public office to be.

Please note we have updated out Shirley Chisholm selection from "The Good Fight" to "Unbossed and Unbought" due to availability issues.
