I read this book in the early 2000s. Google keeps telling me it is INVISIBLE MAN by Ralph Ellison, but it's not. The book is tense and suspenseful and the reveal that the protagonist is a black man in the 40s, 50s or 60s was rather mind-blowing. Thank you!
