Trana Mathews (tranamathews) | 72 comments Based on a suggestion from my local library director, I recently updated The Mathews Family to include a Book Club Discussion section. It was originally published in January 2020 - what bad timing on my part! My local speaking engagements were cancelled in March. I'm currently revising the second novel of my family saga triology.

As crazy as it is, I think 2020 has been both bad and good for many authors. Good because many people are home more, which means they're reading more. Bad because it has certainly made traditional promotion more difficult, i.e. book signings, tours, speaking engagements, etc.

Dion Anja (dionanja) | 5 comments Hello everyone! I'm so glad I stumbled upon this group, it is always encouraging to see someone caring about self-published authors like me. My debut book and poetry collection "My Dawn Is Only Five Hours Away" came out 2 weeks ago, and it is both exciting and terrifying at the same time. I'm posting the book description and link down below and thank you in advance for your consideration. Take care!

Dion Anja's first poetry collection explores the various shades of life from a young-adult woman's point of view such as love, death, nature, anger, and fairies. Fueled by her imagination and surroundings, Anja aims to resonate with your heart and soul because she believes poetry is a shared feeling regardless of place and time. All of the poems have been written in the chaotic atmosphere of the pandemic and this ephemeral state of existence urged Dion to self-publish.

Nigel Hare | 11 comments Hi,
I am trying to engage more with the group and the Goodreads app. I published a novel late last year.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07DHYV2QG

It is the story of a teenager, James Hardy, that feels isolated from his peers. When bunking off school he is chased by a policeman and escapes hiding in the garden of a single woman. This is where his adventure into adulthood begins. It is set in a town in the UK in 1981. This is a time of recession and massive job losses and high unemployment. The people he meets lead him into a life of crime. Jimmy moves into that life without a second thought. He had always been angry, and he soon becomes violent. This is a gritty tale about an angry young man trying to find his place in the world, a world that has never been kind to him.

I'm a self-published children's books author who would love to participate! My stories is about Sophia who doesn't want to do things, finishing her food or getting dressed, giving Mum in the story a lot of trouble. But her Mum has a clever idea, and that's when the magic happens! My books are for all struggling parents, teachers and caregivers. They're help when you thought there were none but I also have readers who read the books to their children as a night time read for fun and relaxation before sleep.

Phil Walters | 1 comments Hi everyone! I'm utterly obsessed with classic sword & sorcery style fantasy worlds, I published my first novel last year, and I've just this week put out a new short story collection (Suns & Doors) which builds the world in the background of the major plot threads. I'm incredibly happy with how these short stories turned out, and they are pretty digestible. I hope this book can make it onto a few reading lists!
