Firman Nur To open this new discussion, I will start with this book genre from the information it's Young Adult Novel, but what does it means?

Indah Ramadhani As i know, 'young adult' itself is the process phase that everyone will experience it before they reach their 'adult phase'. So young adult novel may be defined a novel which its market/target readers are 18 to 22 or 18 to 25. But it can be read by others, out of the age range, though. It depends on the reader itself.

Indah Ramadhani Or maybe, beside of the readers age range target, the values of the novel itself are related with young adults. Perhaps the author wants his/her points can be found and understood by them.

Safaabrar I agree with Indah's statement that it's the reader target which I think each and every county has a different age range in "young adult". And it's proven the young or the kids read it because of the "adult contexts" inside it.

Actually, when you called teenager it's kinda wrong because as I know teenager ages are around 13-17 when they reach their adolescent, and young adult ages are around 17-25.

That's true, Safa. Same here. However, age is not something use for parameter to define 'young adult' itself.

Ana Tasya This book is available to all people. When we talk about the genre of this book, i think it is comedic fiction. If we read this book, we will know that every figure always having problem. for example when Adrian fall in love with pandora, they both doing domething funny. And then, when Adrian's mom fight out with Adrian's father she spat out words that sounded funny because she was drunk. In my opinion, this book is very recomended and interesting for all people. Also this book inspiring us, especially for teenagers who want to change to try new thing to be an adult.

Afra Salsabila At first glance, I thought this book was similar with “The Diary of Wimpy Kid” but as far as I read, eventually its nothing like that. The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole was a whole rollercoaster ride, because it makes me experience something peculiar on how I see Adrian and his life journey.

I personally–if he exist in real life–wont befriend him. I don’t know. Yes, he is such a pity and maybe his life is like a eternal misery, but looking at how he react and going throught it... moreover his relationship with his girlfriend, I find him rather disgusting.

But yet, he has an amazing talent for a 13 year old boy who wrote a poem. Even in adults’ perspective his poet was more mediocre than marvelous, but we gotta appreciate every little talent he has.

At the end of this, I just wanna say that Adrian Mole–as a character–was more like an contradictary because I can’t love him as much as I love and cherishes other fictional character. But either wise, I emphasis his condition all in all.

Eka Listy Hmm Im not a young adult anymore but I do read some young adult novels. I found them quite interesting to read and remind me of my younger self. What about you? Do you also read books targeted for readers under or above your age? Is there any other young adult books do you enjoy?
