OMG! You are probably Lilly's long lost relative - and very lucky to still be alive and kicking too!! You are a nut!!

My cousin's son has asperger..."

Autism is a spectrum and Aspergers fits up the highly functioning end. So Autism and Aspergers can effect people differently. I've worked with people who only grunted and squeaked to communicate and people you would notice were any different to yourself, until you spoke to them a week later and had the same conversation, because that is what they are obsessed about.

K~Terror (k-terror) | 5600 comments I've been really fascinated with this book and the Don Tillman books, learning a bit about how their minds work and seeing what they go through to try to learn to "blend" and function in this crazy world. I bet your job can be very rewarding, challenging and interesting.

Snowtulip | 4679 comments Good pick Kristin!

I'm at Ch. 8 and absolutely loving them. I love that Colton (view spoiler)

I had been hoping to read The Rosie Effect during buddy read period, but I'm still 57 in line at the library :( Might have to buy it.

Shilpa | 140 comments This book is just so awesome.. but I have never had the opportunity of meeting someone like with autism/asperger's..
Is The Rosie Effect about it too?

I agree - i thought (view spoiler)

I really didn't even know anything about this book when I started it - I just came across it and saw all the great reviews.

Yes, Rosie Project is similar but it's about a man with aspergers (Don Tillman) and is told from his own POV. There's a lot of humor in it as he talks about blending with the people and some of the things he does that seem totally normal to him - but not necessarily to those around him at times.

So this book was kind of cool to get it from Lilly's perspective and what she does to help adapt to Colton and how his brain works.

VNerdbooks (v_nerdbooks) | 5079 comments Yes I was glad too, I hope that this was just a one off, as much as I'd like to see what happens, sometimes books should just stay as they are, if you know what I mean?

Yes. I feel the same. I don't want to read what happens next, but I would like to see what else this author comes out with.

I would like to have seen the parents POV, especially Coltons parents. I can imagine that (view spoiler)

I loved the story and would have given 5 stars if it wasn't for all these little things.

And there goes one more book into my TBR! ;)

Make sure you read The Rosie Project before The Rosie Effect. I loved them both, but the first one more. I recently read The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time which from the POV of a teenage boy with Aspergers.

message 74: by Snowtulip (new)

Snowtulip | 4679 comments How can Colton just saying "Lilly " make me so happy!

message 75: by Shinjini (new)

Shinjini (shinjini14) | 292 comments V, absolutely! I don't want to read a sequel to this one. That would just spoil the picture I have of Lilly and Colton and how they ended up together. I will read other books by Johnson for sure though. She really impressed me with this one.

message 76: by Shinjini (new)

Shinjini (shinjini14) | 292 comments Renee, Colton's parents surely didn't have a lot of space in the book but I would have liked to know more about them as well. (view spoiler)
