I need a book recommendation for a boy obsessed with HG2G, so if you could suggest something in a similar writing style / humour

Space Opera by Catherynne Valenti is very close, but it may be too "adult" depending on the age of the reader. I didn't like it as much as HGttG but it has a similar style of rambling writing and droll humor.

Ready Player One is really good it's funny bur also pretty action-packed and it has amazing world-building

different genre, but as funny/punny and witty (IMO) is Terry Pratchett's disc world series

For example: The hat of the character Rincewind says 'Wizzard', because he can't spell.
