My mom died quite a long time ago, and although I read her bookshelf, I am fairly sure that many of them are no longer available. I can remember one or two titles. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I think with this category if you can remember a book your mom loved and find it, that's great. If not possible, aunts, neighbors, close family friends could work nicely.
I have the same issue. My mother passed many years ago, and although my mother was a prolific reader, I do not recall what she loved. So, I went to my mother in-law and asked her what her favorite book was. She was very flattered that I asked her. My husband, who is also doing the challenge did not expect the answer, but now we have a great book, Moll Flanders, to read.
My mother died 20 ears ago and while I have a general clue that she liked Sidney Sheldon books, neither my father nor my siblings know what was her favorite book.Instead I'm going to go with a book my father loves. I think that still keeps it within the spirit of the challenge.
I have no parents alive now and I don't recall them ever reading much - probably just didn't have the time. Also, rather sadly I now appear to be one of the oldest members of the family so I have a problem with this category.
