Katie (ktmac_1) ok. A gorilla and a baby elephant....that is just funny on the face of it. I hope I enjoy this one.

Emily I loved this book. Hope you enjoy it!

Katie (ktmac_1) Thanks. It looks like a great story.

Katie (ktmac_1) Such a great little story. Told through the voice of Ivan, this was a touching, heart-warming tale of friendship, keeping promises and fighting for those who feel like giving up or defeated. It was a quick read and would be great for a children's group to read.

Katie I left you hanging. I fell behind on the challenge and started this book last night. I know it will go fast and I already am enjoying it immensely. I will come back to discuss it after the weekend. Should blow right through this lovely little tale.

Katie (ktmac_1) Kate, I did enjoy it! Heartwarming and sad at the same time.
TJ, Have you finished it? It was not what I was expecting, but such a good story.

Tina (tjlich) Hi, yes I finished it this morning. I truly enjoyed this. I chose this book because my daughter volunteered at our zoo for several years working with primates, specifically gorillas. And one of her jobs was to guide the gorillas during their painting sessions. In fact, I have a painting that was created by gorilla artist Billy from the Sedgwick County Zoo that my daughter gave us for Christmas.

So it goes without saying that this story hit close to home. My daughter has not read it yet, but I am quite excited for her to catch up with the challenge so we can discuss it afterwards. It is a heartfelt, sometimes sad, but mostly enlightening story with a warm, delightful ending, which we don't always expect to find in books anymore. I feel like having read this book has opened my heart a little more.

My favorite character is Bob!

Katie (ktmac_1) Wow! I would have loved to do that, volunteer at a zoo. Animals are amazing. I love that commercial on TV with the odd animal pairings (is it an Android commercial?)! Reminds me of Ivan and Ruby.
The way the author described Ivan being introduced to the troop was interesting too; Ivan was discovering who he was truly meant to be.
