Zita Harrison (httpswwwzitaharrisoncom) | 41 comments Hi, I have a Gothic Suspense/Supernatural Thriller titled Owl Manor - Abigail, book 2 of the Owl manor Trilogy.

https://amzn.to/2Y3SQje

Amazon description
14 years ago, Owl Manor trembled with echoes of madness, mysterious deaths and marauding owls.

In 1870, Abigail flees the horror of Owl Manor with her fiancé, Peter. But she carries with her the terrible notion that she is unworthy of love, instilled by her reluctant mother. If her own mother could not love her, how would anyone else?

She trusts no one and keeps herself buried in a crypt of churning emotions, away from the world. Deep inside, her soul screams at the thought of dying alone and unloved.

Now she is back. Abandoned at the altar, and with nowhere to go, she returns to Owl Manor. Thus begin the nightmares of violent rage and destruction, ghostly images.

What really happened 14 years ago?

Enter Victor, the complete opposite of Peter, yet frighteningly familiar at times.

And the owls circle the sky once again.

I can send you either a .pdf or an .epub if you're interested.

You can reach me at z@zitaharrison.com

Thanks!

Hi Angela,

I'm a traditionally published author experimenting with self-publishing a literary/historical novel, "Every Arm Outstretched." Does this description pique your interest?

Even in a revolution, can the ends ever justify the means?

In 1978, the Somoza family held the people of Nicaragua in a stranglehold, stripping the country of everything of value and making beggars out of honest citizens. The only thing that kept them in power was the feared Guardia Nacional.

As the situation evolved into chaos, ordinary people began to take a stand against the regime. A young street musician and his friends are targeted for arrest, and are swept up into the revolution. Far from the familiar streets of the capital, they soon find themselves fighting for their lives.

What begins for them as a struggle for survival becomes much more than just that. Paco is forced to decide whether he can hold on to his humanity in the midst of war, and whether the ends can ever truly justify the means.

Rovshan Abdullaoglu Hi How are you,

I would be interested in your review of my new nowel "The Man On The Rails"

"The Man on the Rails" is a 2020 Readers' Favorite Gold Medal Winner in the Fiction - Cultural genre!

“A terrifying red train was speeding along the rails. That train, which passes by here daily, seemed so sinister to me now. For it was rushing toward me . . .”

The life paths of two strangers, both of whom have decided to commit suicide by train, cross on the iron rails. They are looking for a way out of life's dilemmas and see no reason why they should continue living. Their lives are approaching the final station; they are waiting for the death train.

These rails in Canada take the reader back to the past when the protagonists haven’t been born yet. The beautiful and stubborn Serbian woman, Adriana, comes to Mostar to write an article about the rights of Serbs being violated in the Balkan Peninsula. Her prejudiced views change when she gets to know Mostar and her good-natured and intelligent guide. Despite herself, Adriana, who was raised with hatred for the Bosnians, falls in love with a man from this “hostile” nation. Her fascinating life story reflects the struggle on the way to one’s deeper self, which unfolds against the background of love, selflessness, betrayal, and the horror of the Srebrenica massacre. Who will win in this struggle?

This novel shows how deeply a human being can sink, what evil floats up when one gets into trouble, and also the spiritual peaks to which a human can ascend. On the one side, a terrible war, whose main victims are women and children. On the other, love, coming out victorious in the hardest trials. It might be easy to die for the sake of loved ones; to live for them, dying and being reborn every day for years—that is the toughest task of love.

It is on Kindle Unlimited. I can send an ARC or FULL PDF to you.

I hope you enjoy reading

Phil Halton | 9 comments Hi Angela,

Here's the jacket copy for my latest historical/literary fiction novel:

Even in a revolution, can the ends ever truly justify the means?

In 1978, the Somoza family held the people of Nicaragua in a stranglehold, stripping the country of everything of value and making beggars out of honest citizens. The only thing that kept the Somoza’s in power were the draconian actions of the feared Guardia Nacional.

In order to survive, Paco eked out a living as a street musician, busking and playing university parties. His life couldn’t have been farther from that of Ramón, a young man who squandered his privileged upbringing and was expelled from medical school.
Despite their differences, the two became fast friends, before being swept up into the revolution. What begins as a struggle for survival becomes a search for meaning. When the human cost of their ideals is laid bare, they soon discover that the true battle is to maintain their humanity.

Every Arm Outstretched explores how we determine right and wrong in a corrupt society, the meaning of love, loyalty and friendship, and whether the ends can ever truly justify the means.
While the facts of the Nicaraguan revolution are well known, recorded history often hides more than it reveals. Every Arm Outstretched marries the truth of human nature to the events of history.

If that sounds interesting to you, I'd love for you to review it.

Patrick J. | 18 comments Hi Angela,

I am about to release a Queer/LGBTQ+ Horror short story collection (The Other Side of the Closet) in early October if you would like to review (about 31k words, quick read).

Blurb:
The Other Side of the Closet explores the real life nightmares of the LGBTQIA+ community through a bloody and morally twisted lens. A random hookup gone wrong. A gay bar haunted by a dead drag queen. A demented family reunion. A couple who can’t let go.
In his first collection, Patrick J. Kane transports you to a dimension where your darkest insecurities are magnified beyond your control. Where the horrors in your mind have taken shape in front of your very eyes.

Warning: explicit language, sexual situations, body horror, gore

If you are interested, feel free to message me or email at: patrickjkanewrites@gmail.com. I'd love to send you an EPub file and get your thoughts :)

Stefan Plesoianu | 5 comments Hello Angela!
My YA Contemporary Fiction novel Tales of a Weirdo has 54k words and is out on September 25, maybe you would be interested in it. It's hard to think of a similar book, though it bears some semblance to Bukowski's Ham on Rye. Also, there is coarse language and a slightly explicit sex scene but other than that it has no violence, rape, abuse, or anything like it. I will happily provide a pdf/mobi/epub upon request, with the option of a Booksprout link too. Here's a blurb:
~
From populars to loners, adolescence is kind to no one.
As strange and quirky as childhood might have been, there was no way for Stef to guess how crippling his teenage years would turn out to be. Depressed, anxious and socially incapable, he realizes he has to break the old barriers and change his way.
For this, he leaves everything behind to study abroad and start anew. Completely abandoning his comfort zone, Stef finds that there is more to life, making up for all the fun and experiences he missed out on. Growing in confidence, he meets Judith and shortly they are sucked together into an amorous whirlwind.
Their bliss doesn't last long, however, as Stef finds out that a tiny pill, loud techno music in a dark hall, and a lesbian friend could be enough to undo everything.

I never thought I would fall so completely head over heels for a man. Years of me playing the field and beating men at their own game were supposed to spare my feelings.

Then Liam showed up and made me break all my rules. His charm and sexy as hell body had me weak in the knees, and I stupidly agreed to one-night-no-regrets.

My mind said Liam was a player, but my heart knew he was different from the others. So when Liam approached me with one hell of a sexy offer--twelve nights with him, I couldn't refuse.

My Christmas wish came true.

Twelve nights of Liam worshiping my body, fiercely possessing me, and making me feel things I've never felt before. How could I turn that down?

But even the Holiday season can’t save me from despair, and fate shows its cruel hand, leaving me to rebuild the walls that Liam so easily tore down.

Will Liam be the gift that keeps on giving, or will this year be another reminder of why the Grinch stole Christmas?

Fantastic Journey - The Soul of Speculative Fiction and Fantasy Adventure is about:

If we do not dream, if we do not imagine, we begin to die.

A smart, concise, thoughtful look at how imaginative fiction and the vast sea of fantasy impacts us as readers on three levels:

•The spiritual arena
•The wide world of ideas
•And the sphere we breathe in

But the secret lies further within. Meaning is the soul of every adventure, its central reality. The reality of every book impacts us on every level.

If a book’s dark soul is a false gem brought up from the sea of fantasy we see shades of human evil and shudder, tossing that book back into the waves it came from. If our jewel of fiction glitters unrealistically bright – without a care – we shrug and say, “meh,” and the fate of that soul, pages fluttering in the wind, is to lie forgotten.

But if that soul draws light to battle darkness, if its story mirrors our lives and calls us to the adventure of truth, the joys of mystery, and the beauties of brave action - then we have won a precious jewel drawn from the sea.

But the ocean of fantasy is not without its dangers.

Wherever there is wealth, there is risk.

Here is what one reader says:

Reader, are you a fantasy fan? Perhaps if you say no, you haven't sampled the uplifting fantasy that author Azalea Dabill describes, analyzes, and lists in this book. After all, there is plenty of fantasy writing out there that leaves a bad feeling in the pit of the stomach.

Learning to tell the difference between fantasy that uplifts and fantasy that does the opposite is the purpose of this book, which it executes in lyrical fashion--with excerpts from 70, count them 70 authors, including specific recommendations for even more than that. This book is clearly a labor of love. -- Phyllis Wheeler, author of The Long Shadow, to be published in 2021

I have only a couple of reviews, and 10 is the magic number. Please share your honest thoughts about this free book and the riches of fantasy fiction!

Find that which is the wealth of souls.

(Has a Christian thread throughout)
Thank you!
