Ed Mcbain's 87th Precinct was one of my first introductions to the police procedural genre. So it has been literally 25 years + since I read his books. I cannot remember any of the plot. The book was written very differently from from McBain's normal formula as it focused solely on the Point of View of the murderer. I know it was NOT their nemesis the "Deaf Man". The publication date does not help since he wrote from 1956-2005.
