I CANT FIND THIS BOOK IVE READ BEFORE! HELP!

So some years ago i read this book about a woman and her daughter being on the run from her ex-husband/boyfriend. Her daughter used to write letters to a soldier and in her last letter she asked him for help which he did come and help then snd he falls in love with the mother.

I I remember he stayed met them at a diner after she ran from her home. Thats pretty much all I I remember.

Please help me find it. TIA
