Read ten books by ten different authors where 9 is the sum of the last 2-digits of the original publication year OR the last 2-digits of the author's birth year OR the last 2-digits of the MPE page count. These combinations are: 09, 18, 27, 36, 45, 54, 63, 72, 81, 90.

Your books will have one of each of the 10 combinations. You can mix and match the ways of arriving at the Power of Nine. You might have 3 books of pub year, 5 of author birth, 2 of MPE page count, for example. Each combination can only be used once per round.

Scoring:

15.1-15.10=15 points
100 point completion bonus
50 point bonus for using single criterion (i.e. birth year)
50 point bonus for numerical finish (09, 18, 27, etc)

Power of 9 can be completed three times.

A few reminders:

I. You cannot claim regular style points for any book you read for Power of 9 (nor do the Power of 9 tasks count as Combo style points for regular Reading with Style tasks).

II. All books read for this sub-challenge must be at least 100 pages, based on the most popular English-language print edition (MPE).

III. Please be aware that cookbooks, illustrated guides, and graphic novels are not allowed for the sub-challenge. Also, books designated as "YA", "Assignment", or "Juv" by the Brooklyn Public Library with a Lexile score less than 800.
