Intent to Kill: James Grippando Grippando must have taken a vacation in New England and liked the accent, because (and he is a Florida guy) he set htis book in RHode Island and seems to delight in making fun of the way we talk. Not that I am a true New Englander, and my accent is, at best, a parody of the local dialect. My daughter says I sound like I'm from New Jersey whenever I order seafood. Go figure. Anyway, the book is an involved mystery of a death that occured 3 years before the current story. The cast includes a fairly well developed "savant" who does anagrams really well. The person who loaned me the book told me to think "Harlan Coben" as this seems to be a suburban mystery revolving around the death of a suburban woman. I can se the connection, but in terms of writing, Coben has a unique and compelling style different from Grippando's presentation. Regardless, this was not bad. (B+)
