ABANDONED. Fiction, twins from China i think, adopted by different parents

I believe it was autobiographical but I remember a fiction book with this premise too.

I believe the twins were either Chinese or Korean orphans.

Once was adopted by an American or Canadian couple, the other was adopted by a Swedish or Finnish couple.

They met in a weird way and became friends but there was a language barrier between them.

In the fiction book I remember there being a death of a parent, the autobiography I believe they both remained with their adoptive parents.

Sorry that this is kind of for two books but the premises are identical.

Separated @ Birth: A True Love Story of Twin Sisters Reunited by Anais Bordier and Samantha Futerman is a non-fiction story about Korean twins - one was raised in the US and one in France. They also made a documentary (movie) called Twinsters.

That is the autobiographical one I was thinking of!

Now to figure out what the fiction one was. I believe the twins were female in that too.
