To be a series on Goodreads, books need to have more than a common theme -- like characters in common, an overarching storyline, a shared universe, etc. What makes this a series?

The idea of having it as a series belongs to the author himself, who was writing it for almost 40 years as a lifetime project. The first stories published in 1934, then reissued as the first installation of the series in 1947. The last installation was published three years before his death. Even the books he was publishing under the same title adding the volume numbers. One can say it was one book written during 40 years.
The novellas and short stories are told from the first person, are mostly autobiographical from his experience as natural historian/writer. The main protagonist is he himself with his travels across Armenia and his interactions with nature. The characters are his family members, colleagues, friends, reappearing in different settings and circumstances. Another such example would be Gerald Durrell's "Corfu trilogy" https://www.goodreads.com/series/6583...
