Things really fell apart. I was surprised that Pete was killed in the crossfire. I thought they would want to arrest him and get information about his connections, etc.
I figured the group would try killing Jason so he couldn't talk. I thought it would be a head shot because they'd know he'd be wearing a vest. I didn't think Pete would actually release the children. Was also surprised that Pete was killed so quickly.
This was the weak spot of the story. I couldn’t tell who started this and how Peter and his group came to be destroyed. Why was that first shot lodged? Did they think they could kill Jason and not take on a full assault and lose??? I was surprised they let the children go, too.
I admit to being confused by this whole scene. Did Neal orchestrate this?

It surprised me. Talk about a cluster. I felt cheated a little because there are so many holes in this part of the story. I wasn't sure if Pete was an inside hit or one of the agents covering them self. It seems like the feds should have expected them to turn on Jason. He needed to be protected better. I don't think they ever revealed who fired the first shot, unless I missed it.
Agree with you both Jonetta and Sharon. It seemed a little too easy the way Pete was taken out. It was obvious that the author wanted to move the plotline away from the group and to the fact that Mercy was missing. It was a bit of a flaw in the overall storyline that the takedown of Pete and the group was a bit underwhelming.
