I did enjoy the book and this time it is not a romance concerning Angela, but the romance centers around her sister-in laws, sister. This romance does become a bit slushy for my liking at times. The inclusion of Freddie was good, but I think there was no way that Corky would not have been severely reprimanded at the very least for his handling the murder weapon. I had to laugh at Kathie being given a pencil and her telling the straight-laced family about it.
Yes, that was funny, Jill :) I would agree though - too much slush and not enough mystery in this one.
I do agree Corky would have been in trouble, but I found him an amusing character and liked the rivalry between him and Freddy.I agree the romance was possibly a bit too sweet but I didn't mind it and it was nice to see another side of Jameson.
I found Mrs Hunter hilarious - the conversation where she starts asking Angela about her husband was great! Shame we didn't get any answers though.

I thought Jameson liked Angela, to be honest. It seemed a sudden switch of romantic feeling; presumably because of Angela's entanglement in the last book?
Freddy is always a joy.
Freddy is always a joy.
Interesting, don't think I'd spotted any hints of romance between Angela and Jameson though! I do agree Freddy is always a lot of fun.
Judy wrote: "Hope your internet soon returns, Susan! Glad you enjoyed the book, anyway."Thanks, I did! And I agree with Jill, couldn’t believe Corky escaped any consequences for handling the weapon - and pointing it at Freddy!

Did anyone guess the killer? I've found the solutions a bit too easy to guess in some of the earlier books in this series, but I didn't guess it this time.
I'm quite surprised though by how quickly the mystery is fading in my mind - I think I always enjoy the characters and the humour in these books more than worrying about the murder!

Angela has now returned from Italy and on a reluctant visit to her painfully respectable brother and his wife, Angela Marchmont finds herself once again caught up in murder when a local farmer is shot dead, apparently at the hands of his sworn enemy. But the case is not as simple as it seems, for other motives and suspects soon come to light. With reporters hot on the scent and her friend, Inspector Jameson, battling a conflict of interest, Angela must use all her ingenuity to unravel the case and bring the murderer to justice - or more than one person will suffer the consequences. As well as Jameson, this novel also features Freddie Pilkinton-Soames,who is, as always, searching for a good story.
