I believe Brody did the right thing with Chet. Chet was going to assume the worst until he was proven wrong. Brody knew he couldn't talk him down until they knew the identity of the victim. I think Brody was right to go to his Chief about Chet's drinking. Unfortunately, I believe that many cops would cover up Chet's drinking because of the "brotherhood". Putting up with bad behavior give cops a bad name.
Yes, Brody did exactly the right thing and everyone knew it. I think this case is unique because the other officers were aware of Chet's problems and understood that he was a danger to himself and others. They couldn't trust that he would have their backs. I also think the chief knew about Chet's return to drinking before Brody told him. The incident in the bar was reported officially when the bartender called the police after the bikers attacked Brody.
I agree with the others. Brody did the right thing. He suspected that his fellow officers would hold it against him, but Chet is a known alcoholic. My guess is the others covered for him before. I'm not sure how many cops will turn in a fellow officer though. It depends on the ethics of the individual. Brody was put in harms way by another partner who was fit for duty.
Brody did the right thing. I agree. A lot of cops wouldn't go to the Chief to turn in another cop much less their partner.
I agree Brody did the right thing and believe his fellow officers and detectives supported him because Chet was fit and represented a danger to them. He was going to get his partner, or someone else killed.
