Mick and Sam were able to abduct the woman leaving the gas station because he tapped her bumper, creating a traffic incident. Would you stop at night in similar situations? What would you do?

[Robin]

I can't remember how late at night this incident was or how busy the road was. I do remember Mick's point-of-view, thinking that when Sam hit the girl, there was no one around to see it. I probably wouldn't have thought anything of pulling over to check out the damage. Now...I would be very wary. If I knew the area, I might drive somewhere that there was people around. It's kind of tough to call.

I've seen several movies where women were tricked in this way. I would like to hope that I wouldn't get out of the car in that kind of situation.

I worked for a police department for a time in my career. They stress the importance of going to a police station at night or if something feels suspicious. If you don't know the area, look for a store or a place where other people are around even if you think the person is a cop.

Even knowing that, the first response is to pull over and check for damage. When I was younger, I would have pulled over. Now I'm not as trusting.

I remember getting out and checking the damage because that's all you are thinking about. I never had something happen to me late at night. It was always during the day when other people were around. I would not get out when it's dark and no one is around.

When I lived in Northern Virginia, there was a rash of assaults like this and law enforcement advised women to never stop on the road at night, even for them. We were to drive to a local police station or a busy place. I’ve never forgotten the advice.
