You Will Know Me by Megan Abbott
Rating: 3 stars

and I started reading

Choke Hold by Christa Faust

That was a fun read. Glad to hear you are enjoying it!

Hope to finish The Thursday Murder Club tonight.
Then to finish The Age of Innocence and How to Be an Antiracist!

That sounds really interesting. I like the books by Malouf that I have read so I will look for this in the library.

Libertie
The Photographer and
The Gilded Ones
Hoping to be finished with all 3 by July 1st.

Moving on to something more recent and have picked up Malibu Rising This is my first book by the author, hoping to enjoy it.

I read a lot of Penelope Lively's books as a child and gobbled this one up when I found it on the teen shelf.
Despite the quantity of books I consumed in those days it is one I still remember though as an adult I realise that it touched on themes that make me wonder why it was on the teen shelf at the library.

This was an East-meets-West and a coming-of-age tale about a young Chinese woman's experience studying English in the UK. Displacement, loneliness, and trying to fit in are elements common to migrant experiences on both sides of the Pond.

Nice review Joy. I need to read more David Mitchell.

Psycho by Robert Bloch - yeah, the book that was the basis for the movie. Mother?

and I started reading:

The Shining by Stephen King - All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy....

Although not a mystery, this story of survival under extreme conditions was a nonfiction thriller. It also seemed more harrowing because the author, one of the survivors, provided his thoughts and feelings about the situation.

Choke Hold by Christa Faust - the second installment in the exploits of Angel Dare
Rating: 3 stars

Hungry Men by Edward Anderson - the author of noted depression-era crime novel Thieves Like Us

Pang's exposé of China's prison industry and its connection to American consumer habits.
