Heather Wescott | 461 comments I'm currently reading Detransition, Baby and No One Can Pronounce My Name.

I recently finished Dominicana, Piecing Me Together, and The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry - all of which I enjoyed. The audio of Unlikely Pilgrimage was performed by Jim Broadbent and was delightful. Piecing Me Together was a very good story, would recommend it to people who like Angie Thomas.

Woman Reading (is away exploring) | 392 comments A Woman of No Importance The Untold Story of the American Spy Who Helped Win World War II by Sonia Purnell A Woman of No Importance: The Untold Story of the American Spy Who Helped Win World War II by Sonia Purnell. This nonfiction reads like a thriller as it relates espionage and covert action in France during WWII.

Ooh I want to start Aftershocks soon! I’ve never read a memoir before (still have to read Educated!),, so this would be a very new experience. Please let me know if you like this one!

PattyMacDotComma I do love a good short story, so I'm glad that Amazon is publishing originals from many different authors. In the Empty Quarter by G. Willow Wilson is a scary little cautionary tale I enjoyed.

Kobayashi says we must inspire the children!

PattyMacDotComma Heartstone is the fourth in the excellent Matthew Shardlake historical mystery series set in King Henry VIII's very bloody England. Author C.J. Sansom seems to know his stuff (excuse the academic terminology) about the wars of the time.

PattyMacDotComma Six Word Story: Stories, Memoirs, Poems and Jokes all written in only six words. is the second book of clever, quirky "stories" by Doug Weller. There's a competition you can enter, too. Fun to try making them up.

Woman Reading (is away exploring) | 392 comments The Gulf The Making of An American Sea by Jack Emerson Davis The Gulf: The Making of An American Sea by Jack Emerson Davis

This took a little effort to get into. But by the end, I could see why it had been awarded the Pulitzer Prize for history in 2018. Davis is an environmental historian and focuses on the 5 Gulf states, but especially on Florida and Texas.
