Bally Warren | 18 comments Two Summers by Aimee Friedman is an interesting summer story about teen Summer Everett who is off to France to visit her artist father for the summer, or is she staying home in upstate New York for another boring summer. The answer is actually both as Aimee Friedman answers the question to what if. The novel does an excellent job of showing the two parallel worlds of Summer’s summer by telling the story of what if she went Paris for the summer or what if she stayed home, decided simply by whether or not she takes a phone call right before boarding her plane. The book doesn’t confuse the two stories and does an excellent job separating them. Through both choices Summer ends up learning her families secrets and growing as a person as it is realized no matter her choice the outcome would be similar.
