I think I read this book around 2010 and I don't believe it was much older than that. It was really humorous, but also delved into deep subjects. I believe it was five women, married with children. They would each bring food and wine/drinks to the book club. After a neighborhood cookout where the children put on a circus one woman showed up after her husband beat her and they helped her leave him. Another hid that she had cancer, but eventually they helped her through that as well. They had a particularly funny moment smoking marijuana at a club meeting.
