Any tips and questions for/about photography

So if i'm doing a close up, how far should I zoom in? Say on a flower.

Usually it depends in what type of picture you want, when I am doing a close up I usually just mess around, zooming in and out and focusing and focusing on the object, until I am happy with the outcome.
