Waid’s FF Omni and the Black Hammer Library Edition arrived today.Buy the Black Hammer Library Edition. If you haven’t bought it, add it to your next purchase. If you don’t have the money, give the IST link to a friend/family and ask for it for Christmas. It’s gorgeous. Typical LE size (like remembers hard covers, bigger than an omnibus, not quite an absolute). It’s thicker than all the Hellboy LE except for maybe Vol 6. The paper is thick. The finish is perfect. The cover is thick and beautiful. The spine looks great and you can tell all the volumes will line up and match. It has a built in cloth bookmark (blanking on the word). And the story is just so good. If you haven’t read it, I don’t know what to say, it’s hard to imagine not loving this.
@Nick That makes me very happy to hear you say that about Black Hammer LE. I’ve been saving my meager pennies for it and am glad to hear it’s worth it. I wish Dark Horse put out more material I was interested in, because frankly their quality exceeds everyone else’s IMO.

How does the Black Hammer Library edition compare to the Harrow County Library Edition (size, finish, etc)? I just picked up Harrow County and really like it. I agree Dark Horse’s quality is exceptional for the price. I only collected a few runs of oversized books from them, but they are all really well done (Fear Agent, Tomb Raider Archives, Hellboy and Big Damn Sin City).

I have both Fear Agent LEs (and used to have Goon LEs) and they’re incredible. Image is close, but the LEs always have sewn binding and crazy thick paper.

Ordered that Aquaman by Johns Omnibus and threw in the Green Arrow Rebirth deluxe 1 to get that free shipping. Excited about the Aquaman bc I don't know that the character has ever been better than during Johns time.

The Black Hammer LE is thicker but the same size otherwise. I think Harrow County has a dustjacket and Black Hammer's cover art is printed on the book? I handled Harrow County a little bit and got Black Hammer yesterday but haven't taken the plastic off of it yet.
I also want to pick up the Johns' Aquaman omnibus. I may need to wait till after Christmas. So far I've gotten two books off my wish list, Rick and Morty OHC vol 3 and Batman Ego and Other Tales DLX by Darwyn Cooke. We'll see if I get any others.

Interestingly, Amazon has the Prince Valiant Box set (4,5,6) for 61 dollars and free shipping, so include tax probably $10-15 cheaper than IST depending on where you live. Also, for the 1st box set Amazon randomly dropped the price to $35 at one point so I am going to see if it nose dives again, but I'd like to keep getting these.

Amazon is listing the box set as paperback. True?

Nice. :)
I really doubt Amazon listing the Prince Valiant box set as paperback is accurate. They haven't done the first box set in that format.

Yeah agree that would be pretty weird. The first box (I think) was exactly the 3 hardcovers just in a dedicated slipcase similar to a DC Absolute.

I had a decent haul this month:Aquaman by Johns Omnibus
Fantastic Four by Waid/Wieringo Omnibus
Guardians by Duggan Omnibus
Loeb/Sale Color Omnibus
Silver Surfer by Allred Omnibus
Harrow County LE Vol 1
Power Rangers Year Two Dlx
Thanos Infinity Conflict OHC
Wicked/Divine Year Three Dlx
My buy list for 2019 based on the available solicits is around 37 books right now, of which 20 are omnis or oversized HCs. I think I'm most excited for the Thanos Wars Omni for Starlin's Thanos material before the Thanos Quest/Infinity Gauntlet. Also excited for Infinity War Omnibus. I wonder if they'll solicit the Infinity Crusade Omnibus for 2019?
Thats a nice haul, i loved Silver Surfer and am just starting FF now.For 2019, I cant believe you already have 37 picked out!! So far, I only have...
Jan: GOTG Tomorrow's Heroes Omni
Feb: Captain Marvel OHC, The Incal Oversixed DLX
Apr: Thanos Wars Omni, Infinity War Omni, Paper Girls DLX
Jun: Abs. Swamp Thing, Amazing SpiderMan Omni 4
July: X-Men Eve of Destruction OHC, Cable and X-Force Omni, Abs. Daytripper
Other things I will catch up on: Faith DLX, Giant Days HC 3, maybe finally get Abs. Sandman 3-5
Ha ditto power rangers but I certainly have some things on the shelf that may raise an eyebrow.By the way, I find it hilarious they gave the first X-Force Omni a classic looking spine and then redirected with Deadpool and the x-force Omni. I wish they were all the same, but thing putting a classic spine on that book in the first place was a bold move by Marvel! Ha
Surprise additions today. So some of you know, Panini Press is the Italian distributor and publisher of Marvel and interesting have Omnis for which there is no English equivalent (Bryne’s Namor for example) and their Omnis have the spine print oriented the opposite way and a matte finish instead of glossy. Speaking a little Italian, this has always been if interest to me.Well Panini’s Silver Surfer Omnibus popped up in my eBay feed today for 35 euro so I got it, even with 40 dollars shipping and got the seller to add I. The Machine Man omnibus, which is a Jack Birby/Buscema title that apparently had some very high highs and some lows and has no US/English equivalent collection (and likely never will).
I also have the Eternals and X-Men 1&2 in Panini and I’d say for any Omnis you want more for the art or history rather than reading this story, may be worth checking out. I’d never buy the original Silver Surfer for 400 but 80 including shipping even in a different language makes sense for me.

That sounds like a fantastic deal to me!
CBR had a list of the to Stan Lee stories and at least a couple were from that silver surfer run. Just made me want it even more.

Nice pickups, Nick! I always thought it off that Panini has Marvel omnibus not released in English counterparts....like Namor as you mentioned. I would have wanted that Warlock omnibus but I guess it’s nice to have exclusives.

Would you be into panini Warlock omnibus? If so, I can let you know if I spot one on eBay? If I buy anything international I usually try to get 2 things are once to even out the shipping cost.Let me know if anyone gets anything cool for the Holidays!
For Christmas, the wife got me X-men Grand Design: Second Genesis, the Slot/Allred Silver Surfer omnibus, Absolute Kingdom Come, and Absolute Haunted Knight (completes my set of Loeb/Sale Batman).

Awesome. :) Those Batman Absolutes look very nice on the shelf. Kingdom Come is probably my favorite DC story if I had to limit it to just one.
I hope everyone had a merry Christmas.
I got a couple books off my comic wish list - Batman Ego and other tails and Rick and Morty OHC vol 3. I also got about a half dozen other books. I gifted about 30 books to half a dozen people.

Are you reading them to sort of bypass the convoluted early years of X-Men, or just to supplement a collection you already have?
My additions this month:
Jason Aaron's Wolverine Omnibus
Secret Warriors Omnibus
SHIELD: Human Machine & Architects of Forever
Ultimate Comics: Thor, Spider-Man, Hawkeye, & The Ultimates (almost have Hickman's main run except for Avengers Vol. 2 & Secret Wars)
And this beauty of a collection of sigs from 50 different people involved in the Secret Wars event of the 80's: https://www.flickr.com/gp/160792920@N...
Hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas, and Happy New Year!
I paid $150 for my secret warriors. I’m on this Hickman kick currently and nearly have all the books I’m looking for!

Secret Warriors is great, read is slowly and enjoy the plot twists is my advice.Long overdue, but finally got the Infinity Guantlet Omni since some Texas comic shop had is online for 165 and I’m tired of trying to find a better deal, it always goes for 200+. Anyway, it’s the alternate cover, not sure if that’s a pro or minus honestly.

I bought that when it first came out. I wish i'd never sold it. The only downside of that omni is that they keep the tie ins separate and display them at the end of the book instead of printing them as one whole story.
Congrats Nick! That was my first omnibus; I have the regular cover but really liked that alternate cover. Agreed with Cheese about the way they just threw the tie in's afterwards out of order.
Today I used a gift card for B&N and addedReplacement book
Batman: Under the Red Hood
Batman and Son by Grant Morrison
Found a cheap used version of the Darth Vader omnibus is my toe is now dipped into Star Wars though I think this is as deep as I go.Also, got BPRD HOE 4 and GOTG: Tomorrow’s Heroes Omni with some Christmas money.
Just bought the Darth Vader Omni as well. Not a huge Star Wars fan but I like Gillen’s writing and the story has tons of praise. Looks likes it’s no longer in print; already seeing some ridiculous asking prices!

Anyone reading the follow-up by Charles Soule? Seems like a very different writer to follow, can anyone comment how his Vader run is going?

It's good but not as good as Gillen's run IMHO. I have the two OHC's of Gillen's run and didn't pick up the omnibus. Very much agree the main series was hit and miss. I've also read the first OHC of the Dr. Aphra run. Also not as good as her story was in the Gillen Vader run.
Ordered the BPRD Hell on Earth HC vol 4 and the Humanoids HC book Millennium. Only other recent book ordered was Elric the Ruby Throne DLX. Short book but large and the art looks good. Someone added some pictures on Amazon if anyone cares to take a look: https://www.amazon.com/Michael-Moorco...
I think this one is already sold out on IST.

I read the first Harrow County Library Edition yesterday. Very creepy. I don't read a lot of horror but if you are into that sort of thing this strikes me as being well done. It's more personal story telling versus Bunn's Sixth Gun which is more action movie than drama. I certainly felt terrible for the main character and was rooting for her.

My fam didn't buy any comics off my list either. I usually do a mix of history/memoir with some comics. Between Christmas and my Dec birthday I received six of those books which was nice. Last year was one of the first times I got a comic off my list. I did however, get an unsolicited Iron Man night light this year.
I should be able to post some updated pictures of my shelves this month as I have a new (to me) cell phone now. :)
