What have you added to your collection recently?

Incredible! Do you have a complete run of all X titles?!? Do you replace TPBs when an omnibus comes out? I'm a long time fan of the X-Men, but most of my stuff is in singles which is why I didn't buy that many of the OHCs.

BZ, those shelves look very nice. :) Did you order them from Amazon? As always, love the art. Any chance you will have statues on top of the shelf?
Karsten, I ordered the first Bomb Queen TPB last week just to check it out. :)

You can get those on Amazon but for some reason they are more expensive than if you buy them straight from walmart. These are totally fine, I just go back and forth whether they are better than Ikea or not.
I probably won't put statues on top, maybe some other collectibles and books that don't fit on the shelves.

With the release of Mutant Massacre Omnibus in Nov'18, ALL issues of Uncanny X-Men (544 issues) and X-Men (366 issues) are now collectible!
Also it seems the Marvel Gods are listening to me, with the following 4 releases this year to help plug my gaps:-
1. X-Men: Revolution by Chris Claremont
2. Wedding of Cyclops and Phoenix HC
3. X-Men: The Magneto War
4. X-Men: Mutant Massacre Omnibus
Just got Chuck Austen and Peter Milligan runs to go.
I've also collected all available/printed TPBs of:
X-Factor (all series)
X-Force (all series)
Excalibur (all series - minus 2 TPBs)
New Mutants (all series - minus 2 TPBs)
All-New X-Men, Astonishing, Amazing, Wolv & X-Men, Generation X (all series)
And yes, most definitely. If and when the Omnibus equivalents are released, I will "update" the TPBs to Omnis (e.g. like with the Mutant Massacre above).
As a true data analyst nerd, I keep an Excel spreadsheet of what I have and what I need to get. Here's the Excel spreadsheet link (379 TPBs and counting - all first hand, and have invested USD10k+):

Sean that list is fantastic! I was thinking of putting a modified version of that here in the group. It wouldn't include tpbs but it would be a reference on how to collect all the X-Men stories in HC. Do you mind if I post the info for the group in a topic/thread?
Seeing those lists, are you guys aware of crushingkrisis.com?It has awesome resources on collecting specific events or character arcs from DC, Marvel and Valiant.

That's all Sean's hard work!

@BZ - Definitely. Feel free to post it anywhere that makes sense. It may need a little tidying up (ie. Including a legend explaining all the different colours and highlights).Basically Red font entries are the ones I'm missing, and those highlighted in Yellow are issues where there is NO TPB available. There are multiple ways of collecting the issues, and I've only included "my way".
@Karsten - Yes, I based my initial research off Crushing Krisis' website. However the website is spread over multiple pages (at least 20+ links to capture what I have on my single spreadsheet). I wanted a file to look at the overview of everything quickly. Hence why I created my spreadsheet, which allows me to edit and make my own personal notes (eg. The future release dates of some TPBs, what I own, any duplicates).
Really excited! Just ordered Batman Morrison Omnibus Vol 1 and Zero Hour Crisis in Time HC as a free shipping bonus.
Just ordered Hickman avengers vol 2.My next purchase will be American Vampire Omnibus Volume 1 in November.
Same here but that's okay for me because money is tight. This fall/winter there is a lot that I'd like to get.

That's the only book I want right now, but can't buy it. Hoping to sell some other stuff to fund it. Please don't sell out!

50% is insane. Blind that’s just what I’ve been doing, selling off comics for funding. Just had enough for that order. And I just realized I can sell off the trades collected in the omnibus! 😁
I don’t spend half as much these days. I just pick up the musts, instead of just collecting everything.
You guys and your ongoing talk about IST!I'm from Germany, but I will now test the service. Ordered Batman Morrison, Absolute LOEG Black Dossier and Walking Dead Omnibus 3. Shipping to Germany was an additional 50$, 14 days delivery time.
However, exchange rates to Euro are great, so I am expecting a save of about 30% in comparison to Amazon, which is my main source of shipments. Will keep you guys posted about my experience.
On topic: Added Abs. Sandman Overture and Quantum&Woody DLX 2 to my collection.
I have a pending ebay sale so I took the chance and bought the Morrison Batman Omnibus but paid for shipping. :(
I'm curious if they will continue to "Vol 2" which is primarily Batman and Robin and then Final Crisis both of which already have an absolute and omnibus.
Then presumably Vol 3 would be all of Batman Incorporated?

I'd be in for Volume 2 but I already have the complete Batman Incorporated in Absolute. I like it if it has clear lines and very little overlap (I'm sure we all do).
it has to have everything written by morrison. Otherwise i would be pissed. I don't have absolute incorparated or batman and robin by morrison omnibus 'cause i have been wating for this.
I have the absolutes for final crisis and Batman Inc so no need for me to rebuy. Still wish this one was in absolute though so I could have the whole run in absolute.
It'll just be interesting to see what they include in the next omnibus.

I already have all this material in HC... it is tempting based on the price but they still did not include the Resurrection of Ra's Al Ghul and I'd still be stuck with the little standard size HC on the shelf next to this anyway.
As far as modern Batman goes, I may like Morrison's Batman the best of the big names (Snyder and King being the other big two).

I have Morrison’s run only in paperback so no double dipping for me, except Final Crisis in standard HC. I think I like Morrison’s best then Snyder’s. Can’t stand King’s Batman at all.
Morrison's Batman and Robin was fun... Then he brought bat cow and that ruined everything for me. Snyder is medicore, only the court of owls and black mirror are good. I haven't read King yet.
To each their own. Just different styles. I love Bat Cow! It’s a great example of the wackiness of Morrison’s run.
I just bought the new Morrison Batman Omnibus and I was thinking about starting the whole run. I’ve been reading contrary opinions on it, and would love to know what everyone thinks about the whole thing. Do I really have to know tons of obscure backstory? I’ve read a lot of Batman already so maybe that’ll help? How’s Incorporated? International Batmen seems weird.
I don't think you really need to know all the backstory. Some of the parts could be read on their own and some of them don't make any sense but if you read the entire run, most of it feeds into the conclusion.
When I first read the contents of vol 1, I didn't get it. Later I reread them and continued all the way through and enjoyed it much more. It's primarily about Damien.
I plan to reread this in parallel with Tomasi's Batman and Robin which is also very good. It builds that relationship between farther and son.

I think Morrison’s run is my favorite Batman. You don’t need to do any prep reading, but I would advise reading slowly and the whole run in the proper order, as its self-referential. I honestly enjoyed the whole run, some parts more than others. It does make a great companion to Tomasi’s run but is far more tone-shifting and larger in scale. I think of Tomasi’s run as a balance of dark and heart-warming, and Morrison’s as bat shit wacky and violent. I think the Bat Inc. story arc is fun and fantastic—some complain about the unfeasibility of a superhero going corporate, but look at Iron Man and Spider-Man Worldwide, also it’s a comic book.
I agree with all of Donovan's comments. Tomasi's run doesn't have scope of Morrison's, but it helps to develop Damien's character. More of a companion piece and definitely not required.
Morrison's Batman is my favourite modern Batman. You don't *need* to know anything but it's fun if you get the threads it's pulling together.
I don't know anymore... Arkham Asylum is one of my favorite Batman stories, i really liked Batman and Robin, RIP and incorporated were ok... I didn't like how he turned Talia evil and killed her though... But Bat Cow.... i can't tolarate Bat Cow... It's mocking the whole Batman franchise... Yeah, you don't take it too serious but Bat Cow is such a level of ridiculous... It really ruined Batman for me.
Tony wrote: "I don't get people getting angry and moments of lightness in Batman stories. It's allowed!"I agree with you though Bat Cow still weird.

IST has The Complete Crimson Omnibus for $87.50 now. Amazon is still allowing an order for $30 thought now is says "temporarily out of stock" instead of "available for pre-order." I ordered from Amazon a couple weeks ago when I saw the price difference.

I took your advice and bought it on Amazon as well.

The thing about Bat cow is it’s nod to and representation of campy Batman, who is firmly rooted in character history, and whose levity balances out darker and more violent moments, and because Morrison assembles all Batmen and stories into one unified continuity. So while I understand not liking the Bat cow, “mocks” doesn’t make sense to me.
