Jesse A (jaathey) | 332 comments I'm undecided but yeah the complete OHC is probably more asthetically appealing.

Just ordered the second King Batman DLX, the 12th Ultimate Spider-Man OHC (still on IST), Rumble TPB vol 4, and the Greatest Adventure OHC by the author of Fables. :)

Fluffyroundabout | 202 comments Just ordered The Invisibles omnibus by Grant Morrison on the quest to read everything by this man. After doom patrol I think I can handle the madness.

Donovan | 1154 comments Nice! I’ve read that whole series but don’t own the omni yet. I’ve got the DP omni though. Great series!

message 4107: by Ooh_jim (new)

Ooh_jim | 251 comments I chose the OHCs over the Invisibles Omni; I'm hoping that with the announcement of an Animal Man vol 1 OHC, that series will follow suit.

Yeah I was ecstatic when I heard about the animal man OHCS. Dc really showing grant some love this year 👌

message 4110: by Nickviola (new)

Nickviola | 1019 comments Is there anything particularly exciting about the new Animal Man HC or is it just that the Omni is out of print so this way is cheaper? How is DC deluxe quality compared to their Omni? This could be my first DC book

message 4111: by Ooh_jim (new)

Ooh_jim | 251 comments I've only recently looked into collecting DC, and I've decided to go for OHCs over Omnis where possible. I love my Marvel omni collection, but the bulkier books do get harder to read.

That said, I am a sucker for an Absolute edition.

I can tell you that Dc OHC’S are just as quality as marvel’s so don’t worry about that. Dc OHC’S compared to Dc omnibuses are basically what marvels OHC’S are to marvel omnibuses. No info on extras yet tho there definetly will be. For now it’s just exciting that we’re getting a Hardcover option that is actually viable again.

Rick | 41 comments Just got X-Men: Grand Design and the Lynd Ward boxed set from the Library of America as Fathers Day gifts. I am excited to dig into these.

message 4114: by Donovan (new)

Donovan | 1154 comments Well there’s a difference between DC and Vertigo quality, Vertigo sometimes worse. I was unimpressed with Invisibles OHCs, tight glued binding and matte paper. I don’t own the omni yet but I know it has solid sewn binding and semi-gloss paper, same with the Doom Patrol omni, which I do own. The Preacher OHCs are the same. I know omnis are heavy but I prefer higher quality binding and paper for longevity.

message 4115: by The Lion's Share (new)

The Lion's Share Vertigo used cheap paper and binding was bad.

Just finished Scapled DLX 1 and will order All the rest on Tuesday. If you haven’t read it and are a fan of books like Brubakers Fatal and Criminal, pick this up. Jason Aaron is getting a lot of attention for Thor these days, but Scalped is where I’d send anyone who is interested in him.

Agreed, outstanding series.

message 4118: by Donovan (new)

Donovan | 1154 comments Still haven’t read that. I’m sure I’d dig it liking Southern Bastards.

message 4119: by Nickviola (new)

Nickviola | 1019 comments Totally agree, Fiffe is incredible, I can’t believe he did that all himself.

The single issues are amazing too, on this thick paper and we would mail them out straight to you. I can’t wait for him to start another ongoing. He doesn’t have one now does he?

I'll do a Friday order which will start with Invincible OHC 12 for sure. I would like to pick up the Avengers book and Death Stand.

I've been prioritizing smaller books I know I want to read lately over omnibus volumes which has put me behind a bit picking up omnibus volumes but it's also been keeping me very interested in the new books coming in. They aren't stacking up in a to-read pile, I'm reading them pretty quickly.

This weekend I read the second DLX of King's Batman, Rumble TPB vol 4, and a new to our market series from Italy getting translated into English, Orphan.

The Complete Crimson HC Omnibus edition from Boom studios was bumped to 25 Jul 18. The book is listed on Boom's website at $125. It can currently be pre-ordered on Amazon for $30. It's 640 pages and oversized. Art by Humberto Ramos.

Description: "Alex Elder isn’t your average teenager. Or at least not anymore.

After being attacked by a gang of vampires, strange powers and abilities have taken over his life. Put in the care of Ekimus, the last of an ancient species pre-dating mankind, Alex must learn to embrace his destiny as “the Chosen One.” Tasked with bringing an end to the vampires, he will find that there are much scarier things that go bump in the night.

Collecting the complete twenty-four issue series by Humberto Ramos (Amazing Spider-Man) and Brian Augustyn (Batman: Gotham By Gaslight), with Scarlet X: Blood on the Moon and the Crimson SourceBook. In one prestigious hardcover omnibus, this is the book fans have been waiting for."

If you want this I doubt it will be cheaper on IST.

That price difference is crazy. I'm very tempted and remember this being popular when it came out.

Paul (paulsaini) | 163 comments Picked up a few books this month including the reprint Infinite Crisis omni, Batman Knightsend Omni and Invincible 12. Also found Absolute Batman Year One new for £15! It was still in shrink wrap and I happened to see it walking by a second hand store. Don't think I would have bought it for its normal going price.

message 4129: by Blindzider, Moderator (new)

Dang! That's the price I'd like to pay for that absolute. Congrats!

Thoughts welcome:

I have every absolute edition. That being said, DC is now rereleasing some books with a couple extras not in the original release. Currently this is the case with The Authority Vol 1 and we know Kingdom Come is getting redone soon.

I mostly feel no desire to pay up extra cash for a slightly different release; why pay $40 for Authority vol 1 for a couple extra pages? I’ve been content with this thought process for months. However, the completest in me keeps nagging every time I’m looking to buy new books.

I doubt I will get the rereleased Authority, just throwing it out there for conversation.

BTW, don’t need the comments on absolute hate; I love the absolute editions and am happy to pay for them.

Blindzider | 3293 comments Mod
I follow your thoughts about not needing the new pages. And I certainly don't need another copy of kingdom come.

How about reframe your completest mentality to one copy of each unique story? :)

Thanks cheese! These are awesome! My statue game slowly stopped since RB closed shop; just a couple SS and commissions here and there but I think I’m done. When RB opens shop again, hopefully SM forum gets back to the good old days and I’ll probably get whatever his first P.O. is just to support, and then be done for good.

There are a fair number of characters that could still tempt me. And that includes more versions of Captain America I don't have yet. :D

Ordered Izuna DLX vol 2, Invincible vol 1,and Black Road Holy North HC for my Friday order.

I'm subscribed to the single issues and enjoyed Thanos Wins by Donny Cates that is now available in TPB.

I saw something online indicating the last issue of Astro City was just released? I'm ready for some Absolute editions. And more Autumnlands issues. :)

boymeetscomics | 79 comments I'm taking some time off (4 weeks) from work this summer... so I can enjoy life again. It's been months since I picked up any books and I just noticed there's a new Infinite Crisis omni printing. Now, I'm feeling an urge to read it during my time off. Any thoughts on the Infinite Crisis event? Do I need to ready any of the other Crisis books beforehand?

Thanks for the suggestion about the shelves.

Congrats on the Captain Britain! I think it is highly unlikely to ever be reprinted so that was probably worth it. Plus, it's a pretty good read, enjoy!

Karsten Krieg | 129 comments Love that dedication in the man cave of yours. Inspiring.
Having a mix of DC, Marvel, Image and lots of other stuff I am still searching for a way to neatly organize the shelves.

Upped my Absolute game this month and also did Alan Moore some justice. Absolute Top Ten, LOEG 1 and 2 added.
Black Road Dlx (very nice read), Bomb Queen DLX (don‘t judge me, its hilarious).

message 4148: by Blindzider, Moderator (new)

Nice pickups! Sometimes I wish they did one LOEG absolute with all three and skipped the scripts. I really just want the art oversized.

message 4149: by Sean (new)

Sean Lim | 51 comments @Blindzider - That's one EPIC book collection in your mancave! I shall aspire to your standards!

Mine is limited mostly to X-Men and some Avengers, including normal trade paperbacks. Only got 25 Omnibus so far (plus a further 3 more ordered over the weekend, the 2x new Wolverine ones and Avengers by Hickman 2).

Thank you Sean. Hopefully I can show you the second half sooner rather than later.

Sounds like you have an impressive collection as well. Looking forward to seeing a picture of your setup.
