For comics, I'm pretty good about only buying what I've already read and liked. The problem is there's some stuff which I've never read and bought. Those are the ones I need to decide if I really want to keep them.
I stopped buying "regular" books awhile ago and have since purged those. Now if I can only get my wife to do that with her books...

Speaking of which, just snagged Mind MGMT HC Vol 1 for $9.99 shipped on eBay. Been wanting to read it and finally won an auction. Damn snipers lately...

I really enjoyed that one. One of my favorites from the Mignola universe. I'm not sure I'm enjoying the Mignola universe as much as I expected.

Book: The red cloth-like cover looks very nice in the shelves, you can compare it to the Hellboy LE ones. No dust jackets, sown binding, solid paper quality. Good production and display value.
Story: Everything reminds me a little bit of Walking Dead, not only the B&W appearance. It focuses and a group of, well, survivors, there are different factions working against each other and there is a looming threat of monsters. However, the setting is vastly different, there are believe systems in place and they are in conflict, so there is enough to set it apart. Overall, enjoyable. Rough, gory and with very explicit language, but enjoyable.
Art: Totally different from your average Marvel trip. It is a mix of Walking Dead, manga style and something very individual to Mittens artwork. It takes time to get used too and you can‘t rush through the pages as you have to „read“ the artwork too. That is why I only have four chapters done yet. Its refreshing.
If you have ever read From Hell and feel like you worked really hard, this book is more relaxing though.
HTH

I went ahead and ordered the X-Men Legion Quest OHC today. Trying something new with a Humanoids HC titled Armies (it got me to $50 for free shipping too).
Looks like the Divinity Trilogy DLX HC from Valiant is sold out on IST. Still available on Amazon though their price has ticked up since it went out of stock on IST IIRC. I have a copy in my to-read pile right now.

I will be getting Legionquest and BPRD Hell on Earth on Tuesday.
And Valiant always sells out of their event books, its the weirdest thing. I still dont actually know if its because they sell better than the series books or if they print less.
I read a bunch of fantastic quotes from Sandman before ever reading it. The quotes are amazing but it was odd reading them in context with the story for the first time.
Going through the "coming soon" on IST . . . 1st week of July is going to be a heavy hit! Don't spend your tax returns too quickly . . . if you were lucky enough to get one.
Anyone notice the drastic value drop in the Walking Dead Omni's? The Big Black Slip Case Editions

Was there a reprint of the titles or are they just trending at lower secondhand prices?

There have been reprints, which will hurt it, but I think it’s drastic even for reprints entering the market. There is an eBay listing for Vol1-3 and the compendium for $125 shipped.
In other news, I picked up Big Hard Sex Criminals DLX Vol 1 and 2. I can't get into it. It's boring, drags on and on, and Matt Fraction writes for women the way he wishes they would talk.
I'll finish Vol. 1 and probably sell both Vol with 2 unopened.
Would greatly welcome a discussion of similar or opposing views.

I think Fraction presents sexual identity and the way people orgasm and get turned on very honestly. As a straight white Italian male who is married, I still have gay friends, asexual friends, missionary position friends, role playing friends, and appreciate that people are into all types of things including nothing and this book captures that in a way modern superhero books can’t.
Mainstream comics treat a gay character as an event. Its 10% of the population people... there are more redheaded women than gays in comics. Being gay is not the thing that’s rare! But so many red headed women! And as for women characters, I personally I think 99% of superhero women (and brubakers noir women) are the same person with the same interests and into the same things.
Also, the simultaneous message of sexual connection being a special moment between partners but not an exclusive one as other people can come in and out of your sexual world with your consent or with cheating, etc randomly appear and destroy your “perfect moment” is a great metaphor and also leads to great “stopping time” comic layouts and inventive interactions. Zadarsky is also a great artist. Fraction can be too smart for his own good, but if you’ve read ODY-C you know this guys brain operates at a different level that a Bendis or a Remender (who I love) so I forgive him his self indulgence.
Ultimately, I like that people have varying sexual practices that are just who they are and they can still be a distinct personality BUT only get off particular engrained sexual interests. Which is obviously true if you’ve ever been to a porn site (nurse porn, nun porn, pain, humiliation, cuckold, neighbor, in public, voyeur, incest, group, masked, Asian, Jewish, black, white, Indian, etc forever).

ha ha so true.

Thanos: Infinity Siblings, Incognito
and, Scene of the Crime showed up a few days ago.
Also just ordered the Wolverine Adamantium Collection on eBay, excited to reread the Barry Windsor-Smith run again in this hilariously huge format. There's so much going on in those pages

As planned, I got X-Men Legionquest and BPRD HOE v.2.
And... ok... don't judge me, I used my tax return to also get the Walter Simonson Battlestar Galactica Art Edition (Signed and Remarked).... so its a 400 dollar book... but its marked down to 280 on IST, and there are only 50 of them, and Battlestar Galactica was the first show I ever binge-watched with my wife and Simonson is my favorite or 2nd favorite artist, but he doesnt sell his original artwork and I could never afford it anyway, and that combination of things is how I am defending saying fuck it and spending 2 months of book money on 1 book that will probably have a small doodle and a signature.
Hey, if it's something you want and you can afford it (meaning your kids aren't starving for example) then go for it and enjoy it!

(I wanted this well documented in case my spending is used against in any future divorce proceedings)

Thanos: Infinity Siblings was good. Worth the price for sure; hard to go wrong with Jim Starlin and Alan Davis. Starlin is pretty much the only writer that knows how to evolve Thanos, to continue his story, rather than relegating him as the big baddie just because. Lots of cool imagery, and Starlin manages to tie it into an older Thanos story as well.
It's the first part of another Trilogy, so there's going to be a lot more to chew on, but this OGN was a nice tasty bite of things to come.
BHSC. The message if fine, but I feel the comment of unfocused and meandering is spot on.

It's always nice to make progress on a multi-book series. :)
Cable and Deadpool was a pretty popular series and has received an omnibus. I thought the content was decent and enjoyed reading the series but I wouldn't list it as top tier Marvel. So far, Cable's best writing as a solo character I've read is the run that takes place following X-Men Messiah Complex and leading up to X-Men Second Coming (with Messiah War in the middle). The series is by Duane Swierczynski with computer generated looking art by Ariel Olivetti where Cable takes a mutant baby on the run away from Bishop and others trying to track him down and kill the baby. I read the Messiah War issues and the run has gotten positive reviews whenever I've heard people talk about Cable. I was kind of hoping we would see this content in an omnibus with Cable being featured in the Deadpool movie. We do have a Cable omnibus but it is an earlier run. So, I've just finished compiling the single issues, X-Force cross-over issues, a mini-series, and a couple of one shots for a custom bind. :)

While I have no idea, with another Spawn movie in reboot stages if the content is there I wouldn't be surprised to see more material printed. :)

Wow. That probably takes the cake for a messed up Amazon order. They are typically pretty good about fixing things for customers so I would definitely follow up.

Happened to me once when I ordered about 6 of IDW's Terry and the Pirates books. All heavy, they came loose in a box and arrived all mangled. Amazon replaced them, but I made sure I left a negative review on their packaging.

I only pulled out one to look, I was so disgusted. Had my doubts as soon as I saw the box, and yup.
Whoever packed that needs to be fired. No common sense and no respect for other people's property much less caring about doing their job right.

Dude you're going about this all wrong. I've done this a million times and you're being far too nice. You've paid the money, it should arrive in good condition.Amazon are at fault, so treat them that way.
Get on amazon chat on the website - Tell them you received the package damaged and want a replacement immediately. Tell them you will send the package back if they provide a postage slip. There have been several instances where i've never sent it back and sold it on ebay, so I would say you'll send it back when you get the replacement.

Noelbeast, glad to hear it is working out. :)
The new Carnage omnibus contains the 16 issue run that started in 2015 that got a lot of positive reviews. I'm leaning towards picking it up. It is good to see some newer material balancing out the classic stuff.

Ordered my gauntlet box set from IST on release. The box set comes in special packaging already, similar to a Statue box; double boxed with two shippers with the inside shipper suspended with eight corner styrofoams. If the books came the way you’re describing, it’s got to be an opened item.
