What have you added to your collection recently?
Jason just finished his stint on the main Star Wars book last month and Kieran Gilles took over. I am sure there will be an Omnibus for Aaron’s section soon with a plan for Gilles to have a long run of things go well which could be a volume 2.
It looks like both Descender 1 and Black Science 2 OHCs come out tomorrow.
Also Lady Thor by Aaron OHC vol 2
Batman Unwrapped Death in the Family
Bendis Guardians of the Galaxy OHC 4
Marvel Masterworks Fantastic Four vol 19
Dark Judges (Judge Dredd) Fall of Deadworld
TMNT Adventures Robotanimals HC
There should be a standard size Astro City Ordinary Heroes HC as well.

Ordered Black Science V2 (DCBS variant) and went ahead and got Descender V1 (DCBS variant). Hoping that if Lemire's writing doesn't wow me I can at least enjoy Nguyen's art.
Descender remains my favorite thing by Lemire. Overall I think he did a solid job on Old Man Wolverine.
Nguyen posted a art piece he did that looked like a Batman and Robin cover with a title indicating it was written by Lemire with art by him. That could be an interesting team up. Lemire on a Robin book could work.

I agree about descender, but Millar set a precedent with Old man wolverine which cannot and will not ever be repeated. It was truly special.
I wish Hickman's SHIELD series would just come out. (But yeah, in OHC, preferably. Then we can all start dreaming of an Ultimate Universe by Hickman OHC)
Classic X-Men Omnibus arrived and it is super well-done.As most of us know, Classic X-Men reprinted early Uncanny X-Men issues but with backup stories (mostly written or architected by Claremont) that gave more insight into quiet moments, explained what was happening with characters who weren't there, or provided more backstory, etc.) Those are all collected in here.
Each "issue" is not the full issue so no double-dipping, instead they given a 1 page summary of the issue (collected in the Uncanny X omnis) with a yellow background really helping distinguish a new section, since its not a continuous story in this omni. The next to it also with a yellowbackground is the cover or alternate cover to the issue, followed by the backup story on white background pages (usually like 6-14 pages?) of the never-before-in-Omni format backups described above. I put up 2 pictures to show how well they summarize the issues so that the backup story in the next 6-14 pages has a nice setup:

Cheese wrote: "I’m still confused. Are you telling us it’s a book of front covers with txt?"No, its a book of all the Back-Up stories in Classic X-Men, but they only make sense if you know what happened in the issue they were a back-up to. Instead of printing the full issue + Backup story the format is (a) Summary of Uncanny-Xmen Issues (yellow background), (b) Cover or Alternate Cover (yellow background), (c) Back-Up Story (several pages ~10 on normal white background like usual Omni).
Does that help?
I also added a Collection Photo just to show its actually quite thick (1040 pages) and has a white spine (its the first book in Cube 7 if you read them like you would panels):

Thanks Nick. I've received mine but haven't opened it. It'll be interesting to read this straight through and see how well it flows.
Hey All,
I have BPRD Plague of Frogs HC Vol 1. As many of you know, Vol 2-4 are out of print and pretty expensive on eBay. Are they worth it? I normally wouldn’t bite, but seeing just a Vol. 1 on my shelf is driving me crazy.

It’s a really great story, I read it this year and was one of my favorite multi-hardcover spanning reads but finding any of 2-4 for <90 a piece is really really hard and #3 goes for over 150 sometimes if I remember right. Someone mentioned there may be a reprint happening despite DarkHorse previously denying it. May be worth emailing them to ask, otherwise if you have a lot of collecting to do, consider selling HC 1 and getting them all paperback to have them match or if 300 bucks minimum for 3 books isn’t crazy scout eBay and Amazon. I eventually found Book 3 on Amazon for <100 but that’s still a lot. The build of 2-4 is identical to 1. Sorry that that probably doesn’t help, but I remember being the one complaining about it and finally dedicated a few months to finding best deals possible and completed the set.
Despite planning to skip Akira, I found a great deal on the box set, so I grabbed it...still wondering where the heck I'll keep it. Also bought a like new copy of Marvels Platinum Edition (no idea where to keep this either) and the OHC of Loeb/Sale's Yellow/Blue/Gray. Was holding out on the color series thinking they may print a new collection that included Captain America White, but I found it a new copy of the OHC for £10!

Worth every penny!
Pulled the trigger. Found vol 2 3 and 4 for $220 including shipping on amazon. Now fingers crossed in condition. Amazon has always been good to me on returns even from third party sellers.
Just got Gundam: Origin vol. 7... I forget to get this one because i haven't started to read it yet and i have never read or watched Gundam before and there are too many series that i follow but i will focus on it now or otherwise the HCs will get out of stock before i can complete my Gundam: Origin Collection. The Quality of these HCs are amazing btw.

I did not read anything to prep and I enjoyed it. I can't think of anything super confusing off the top of my head.

Bit the bullet and pre-emptively spent Christmas' bonus on that lot of the 2 classic Captain Britain OHCs and the omnibus that's been hanging around eBay for a while.
Nice choice jim, you won't regret it. The Black Knight/Siege of Camelot story is some of my favorite Cap Britain stuff.I actually got Chris Claremont to sign my Captain Britain omnibus a few weeks back, along with the three Uncanny X-men omni's. I havent gotten around to to posting pics because the camera on my phone is broken, but I'll do so when I get a new one.
Hey fellas. Just ordered Batman The Shadow HC, Trillium DLX OHC, and Descender DLX OHC. Merry Christmas to you and me. 🎅🏻 🎁
ha ha nice. Can't wait to get my hands on descender, but i'm mostly really waiting on Injection.I'm surprised none of you guys talk about injection!?!? I think it's Ellis's best work to date.
I've only read vol 1 and 2, but vol 2 was amazing.

Nice. Mu last order last week was Decsender OHC, Black Science OHC 2, and the I Hate Fairyland vol 1 OHC. Merry Christmas to me and everyone else as well. :)

@Cheese Honestly I couldn’t get into it. Vol 1 was interesting and 2 I lost interest. I think Ellis is kind of overrated.
Fair enough, some of his stuff is overrated, but i thought this was similar to planetary which i loved.
I would probably check out an HC on Injection if/when it comes out. Vol 1 (TPB) may be in my lengthy wish list on IST as reminder to eventually check it out.
Yeah, I'm just waiting for a HC of Injection (and every comic I haven't read yet, TBH). Otherwise, I'll read it digitally eventually.
Wishing everyone in this group a happy and healthy holiday season. Hopefully there will be a nice haul of books under your Christmas tree. Cheers.
Merry Christmas lads, and here’s to another year of great comic runs getting collected in the best format for us to enjoy!
Seems like if it were going to happen It would have by now. That being said I understand siege has a hard cover but it’s not a true omnibus in that it leaves out a lot of the side stories I’d also be interested in a fear it self omnibus anyone ever hear of these coming out in the future?
Not sure if this would be the right thread to ask in, but...What are everyone’s most anticipated hardcovers of 2018 that have been announced so far or that they suspect are almost inevitable?
This thread is fine. It's a good catch all place.
Probably for me it would be Avengers v3. It's classic stuff that I've never read. Deadly class V2 although it hasn't been announced I think.
For DC there isn't much. Finally owning the first part of Morrison's Batman will be nice. And whenever they announce absolute transmet too.

That’s cool, I am excited to finally read BPRD Hell on Earth and more Abe Sapien. I’m also 200 pages into Fourth World now and, after a slow start because I know nothing about this world, am loving it so I’m also excited for the Kamandi Omnibus to have more Kirby to read.

For me, the list will have to be,
1) Punisher Max Omnibus by Garth Ennis Vol.1 and 2
2) Vision
Merry Christmas everyone.Got some HC on a hunch in December:
Lady Mechanica
The White Lama by Jodorowsky
Baltimore 1-3
The Other / Spiderman, which just catched my interest by the different look of it. I‘m not a spidey fan.
This is my current bookshelf, started collecting this year.

For next year I am looking forward to completing the Preacher Absolutes and the BPRD Hell on Earth installments.
Karsten, very Impressive shelf after only one year. :)
I actually got a omnibus for Christmas this year (World War Hulk). Usually my family buys me other kinds of books (I got a dozen other history/bio books).
Most anticipated books for 2018...
From Marvel would be the next Cap Masterwork and the Aaron Wolverine omnibus (finally complete the run).
My most wanted from Image would be a Birthright OHC. I do want to check out the Kirkman's Invincible series.
From Dark Horse I want to finish buying the Hellboy Library Editions.
From DC it would probably be the Sandman Overture Absolute.

Santa brought me The Art of Jock, just wish it had more of his Batman work in it but otherwise very nice. Also, received the 75 Years of Marvel Cover Art slipcase hardcover.
Parents in law got me “Golden Age of DC” (eye roll) but my dad got me cash that turned into the Artist Editions of Mister Miracle and the SDCC variant of Kamandi that I found together on eBay.

What exactly is collected in that Mircale Man AE? Every description I've read about it is pretty vague.

That was definitely my favorite of the new Star Wars books."
Good to hear. :D I wonder why they didn't make the main Star Wars series in Omnibus Format... may be it wasn't that good ?
