Bruno Carriço (bchccc) | 242 comments Got a question for you all:

Whats is your reading % of your collection? (just some broad numbers...)

I think mine is about 30%....

message 2502: by gxvault (new)

gxvault | 132 comments Mine is to low so I will skip the answer for shy feelings :p

I used to be near 100% but I have about 7 omnibuses I still haven't read yet.

about the same 30%. I prefer to stare at them with glee.

The second half of the book is a large cover gallery of Ross' art. A Marvels omni is a great idea!

I see some unused statue space on top of those black shelves Eric. :p

Looking like a great collection. I hope you like Velvet. I found it pretty enjoyable.

message 2507: by gxvault (new)

gxvault | 132 comments Soooo true Relstuart :)

message 2508: by Donovan (new)

Donovan | 1154 comments @Reece thanks buddy. I've been worried about it.

@Bruno 100% because I can't afford all I want to read. Although Doom Patrol omnibus has slowed me down this week : )

I'd estimate my completion rate to be about 80-90%. I definitely have a decent number that are unread, but I try not to let my buying outpace my reading by too much.

Fluffyroundabout | 202 comments Just bought
Dmz deluxe volume 3
Criminal deluxe book one (oop so is the 2nd one hopefully I find it for a good price some day)

Nice find on criminal!

message 2512: by Donovan (new)

Donovan | 1154 comments Nice. I really want to own that series (and read volume two!) but I'm holding out for an Image reprint.

message 2513: by Fluffyroundabout (new)

Fluffyroundabout | 202 comments O it would be great if image brought out hardcovers, don't see why they wouldn't most ppl have the opinion it's ed and Sean's best! And that's saying something. Thanks blinsizer I was delighted when I spotted it, it feels extra special now

message 2514: by Donovan (last edited May 06, 2017 04:04PM) (new)

Donovan | 1154 comments Criminal has a weird publishing history, because it was first printed by an indie imprint of Marvel, and the paperbacks have since been printed by Image. I think Brubaker's history with Image is enough that there will be deluxe hardcovers eventually.

message 2515: by Fluffyroundabout (new)

Fluffyroundabout | 202 comments Wahay!

message 2516: by Firestorm (new)

Firestorm | 72 comments I got Doctor Strange MMW 5.

message 2517: by Nickviola (new)

Nickviola | 1019 comments I've read about 80% of my books. Some like FF 2 and Brubaker's last 2 cap omnis, I am waiting for reprints of earlier volumes to read all together. Same with all of Claremont X men beyond Inferno since I'm missing that book.

message 2518: by Reece (new)

Reece (mrrallentando) | 309 comments Does anyone have their collection insured? My wife looked into it through our homeowners insurance and apparently it'll only be about $65 per year to insure up to $10k worth of items. I'm probably going to go for it now that my collection has grown to it's current size.

message 2519: by Blindzider, Moderator (new)

Blindzider | 3293 comments Mod
I've researched insuring my statue collection but was waiting for that to stop growing. Now that it has I'll probably look into it again and include the hardcovers.

message 2520: by Donovan (new)

Donovan | 1154 comments With my recent wavy page incident I need to look into it. I'm probably already covered.

message 2521: by Relstuart, Mod+ (new)

Relstuart | 2964 comments Mod
Along with insurance, make sure you document what you have. If it gets destroyed the insurance company will want some sort of proof of what you owned. So all these pictures (or Youtube videos) of your collection are actually really good for that sort of thing. :)

message 2522: by Donovan (new)

Donovan | 1154 comments Nice. Yeah sadly I'm wondering if I need to pause my collecting until I move. This farmhouse is terribly drafty and it makes me paranoid for my books.

What about some Dehumidifier equipment? Those are usually cheap...

message 2524: by Donovan (new)

Donovan | 1154 comments Yeah, maybe. It's a 1920s cabin turned "farmhouse"...

message 2525: by Nickviola (last edited May 08, 2017 10:42PM) (new)

Nickviola | 1019 comments New additions are Little Nemo, Daredevil by Brubaker vol. 2, Daredevil by Miller, and Absolute Watchmen. More importantly, just finished moving, so I put together some new shelves and this is the current collection:

Yes! I like the room for expansion! Is the stuff on top going to be put on the shelves?

message 2530: by Nickviola (new)

Nickviola | 1019 comments Thanks, everyone!! I have a 8 month old so I am worried to keep anything too low, especially my X-men stuff so I made the decision to throw the X stuff up top even if it doesn't look as clean :/

gxvault | 132 comments hi,
it might be a little off topic but, I´m trying to get as much as I can of marvel cosmic, so I´ve grabbed (omnibuses) War of Kings, Realm and Road, annihilation/conquest (tpbs), Tpbs for almost every thanos appearance and now I´m thinking of getting GOTG omnibus by Jim valentino (don´t know if you guys recommend it?), so my question is: Is there anymore omnibus that I can get (Besides maybe FF)?
Thanks in advance

The biggest problem with collecting this kind of stuff is drawing the line at what you consider 'cosmic'; I'd say the following omnibuses certainly count:

Silver Surfer
The Eternals
Guardiams of the Galaxy Solo Classics
Guardians by Bendis
Secret Wars I (maybe II)
Planet Hulk
Hickman's Avengers
John Carter: Warlord of Mars

As for the most noteworthy, non-omnibussed, non-Thanos cosmic stories, off the top of my head: The Dark Phoenix Saga, The Kree-Skrull War, Operation: Galactic Storm, The Coming of Galactus, The Korvac Saga, The Magus Saga, The Trial of Galactus, Silver Surfer: Parable, & Silver Surfer: Requiem. I'm sure there are plenty of others I've forgotten about.

Wow!!awesome!
Thanks Ooh_jim
SS Requiem I already bought it.

message 2538: by Bruno (new)

Bruno Carriço (bchccc) | 242 comments Guardians of the Galaxy by Bendis, should be a no-brainer! :)

Jesse A (jaathey) | 332 comments Sercapi wrote: "I'be read so many bad reviews about bendis run on GOTG :/"

Its fun. Too many guest stars but its mostly a fun run.

message 2541: by Ooh_jim (new)

Ooh_jim | 251 comments Sercapi wrote: "I'be read so many bad reviews about bendis run on GOTG :/"
Yeah I did not like that run. Too many guest appearances, too much time spent on Earth, characters written to follow their movie personalities in stead of the traits established in the comics, overly Bendisy dialogue, mediocre plots bogged down by events & crossovers. The list goes on.

Of course this is just one man's bitter opinion - the title sold fairly well so your milage may vary.

I think the biggest dissapointment is that the shift in tone from the DNA run could have worked well. After all of the war and high drama from Annihilation to Thanos Imperative, changing it up by having the bunch of scrappy ex-cons getting up to low key mischief, Firefly-style, sounded great in theory.

Funny, that sounds like my list of dislikes for nearly every Marvel Bendis comic I've read (except for Alias.) I guess that makes us two bitter men...

I've not got round to my Alias and Daredevil omnibusses, but I'm looking forward to them. I'm not autimatically averse to Bendis as a writer - I liked House of M, I thought his UXM was good, although the anticlimactic ending was a bit of a shame. ANXM wasn't bad, but not really for me, and what I've read of his Avengers stuff seemed alright.

I'm not above riducling his writing style though.
