Lol. =) My next box will be on the smaller side but it'll have the slipcased Once and Future King as the biggest book, a small HC, two paperbacks, and a couple of single issues. Certainly smaller than my spending would normally indicate would be expected.

Blindzider wrote: "Well, that's a little frustrating. Peter David Hulk Omnibus 4, after already being delayed, just missed my DCBS ship date, so now I have to wait another month."

But here is the tough question, have you read the first three volumes already? :p

Solid adds. =)

Nothing for me this week. Tuesday was too crazy for me to get online and add the books released this week (sorry!). I also didn't order anything but I added a couple to my wishlist. Firepower hardcover volume 1 sounds like an interesting story I'd check out.

I enjoyed the JMS and Gillen runs that proceeded this collection.

J | 531 comments IST announcement:

"Starting today, InStockTrades will be uploading our new release titles at an earlier time. Rather than waiting until 3pm EST, we will be listing new releases at 12pm EST. The next few weeks will act as a trial period to see if this is something that we can continue doing every week, but we will let you know via newsletter if the upload time has to be switched back to 3pm EST. We are happy to announce that within recent months we have had a better ability to stay caught up with our orders, which is why we are trying an earlier release time on Tuesdays! As always, orders containing books with official release dates of Wednesday will not leave our warehouse until then."

Legion of Super-Heroes Five Years later Omnibus Vol 2
Thor by Fraction Quesada DM cover
Static Season One HC
Captain Action Classic Collection HC
Code of Honor and Other Stories (work by John Severin) HC

There was one month where I wasn't able to make a DCBS preorder and looks like the first three were available to preorder in that month. As a Legion fan I had completely forgotten that there was a second volume of this run.

A total Street Level Vigilante Haul that hits the spot. (: I also get a ton of manga but i don't add them here because they are soft cover. I see some people add the soft cover stuff in their haul here but i prefer to keep it limited to Hard Covers around here.

I had been waiting for that Flash by Waid Omnibus but I just realized it is primarily about Wally and not Barry. Can anyone convince me it's still worth reading? I've heard that so much of Waid's run created the current mythology of the speed force and other aspects of the Flash.

Anyone read The Boys? I enjoy the show and have been waiting for a HC. Flipping through the TPBs the book seems to be even more extreme than the show.

Believe me, I get it. There are things about the show I don't like, but I'm ignoring them for the parts I do like. When I flipped through the TPB I saw more of what I didn't like so I'm hesitant.

Slightly off topic: who started on GR primarily to record what you’ve read? I guess if you were only here for that reason you wouldn’t be commenting in a specific group.

And, do you use any other site to keep track of other things? Movies watched, games played, etc.

I used to be heavily into watching movies and never really kept track of what I’ve watched, which serves no real purpose other than to relieve my organizational anxiety.

message 7933: by noelbeast (new)

noelbeast | 489 comments I joined GR specifically and only for this group because when I joined, there didn’t seem to be any good way to track new releases on a weekly basis. I did at some point start to added some books to my collection/reading list or whatever on here, but it honestly felt like busywork and I abandoned that.

On a slightly related note, I’m at a comic convention currently and had several conversations with an older collector while in line for some Jim Lee signings and a panel. He was talking up CLZ and showing me his collection (chiefly X-Men, so had a great discussion). He asked me about my collection, told him it was primarily HC collected editions, and lamented that there’s not a database that breaks down books like ours to list individual issues collected. He said CLZ does that, but I remember looking into it years ago and it wasn’t exactly what I had hoped.

Long story short, does anyone use CLZ to catalogue their omnis/OHCs, etc., and could you share screenshot(s) or examples of how the info is presented to you of what’s in your collection? I’d love to have a list of all individual issues I have via omnis, etc. so I can pull up individual cover art, details, and so on, but kind of think. CLZ doesn’t do that for these books.

message 7934: by Ryan (new)

Ryan | 146 comments I use CLZ to track all my collected editions in addition to single issues. It’s great. Basically as soon as I get a new book, I scan the barcode and it comes right up so I can add it to my collection.

You can also click on each book and it gives you all the details. I posted some examples with different types of hardcovers here https://imgur.com/a/2q6aL5W

I would have loved something like CLZ back when i was collecting. I used to do it old school with 3x5 atone tablets. I would have used something like letterboxd for all the movies i watched too.

message 7937: by Ryan (new)

Ryan | 146 comments I will add that when I got CLZ, it was a $15 one time fee that I am grandfathered into. I believe now it’s a subscription with extra features that I don’t get access to. I think I would still use it if I had to pay the yearly subscription though, unless I found something else that was free and just as effective.

I love CLZ! ... been using it for over 10 years!

I joined GR via random acquaintance, ... but now I just join to find recommendations.

I joined to record what I read and for the much lesser reason (but hyped by GR) to find books I didn't know existed. I used to go into Barnes and Nobles when I was in a big town with one and find a dozen or more books I wanted but couldn't afford and add them to my To-Read list here so I could go back and buy them one by one when I could afford them. It was much easier than awkwardly writing down titles in the store. =)

That sounds like a lot of awesome reading. =)

message 7945: by J. (new)

J. (wraecca) | 127 comments In these situations, are the books accumulated for delivery, insured in any way?

Or did I have to check a box or something?

message 7946: by J (new)

J | 531 comments From the FAQ:

"Domestic shipments sent by FedEx and USPS are sent with tracking and insurance of $100 per package. "

"Additional insurance may be purchase over $100, please inquire for pricing."

DCBS will send you a package each month as long as you place an order that covers the shipping. If you don't make an order in one month, the books released that month will roll over until all books are released, or until you make another order.

"Orders containing only collected editions also have varied ship dates, so if no subsequent orders have been placed on the account, we reserve the right to hold the order until all items have arrived."

message 7947: by J (new)

J | 531 comments More:

"If a customer places regular monthly orders, orders are sent at the end of each month, or the chosen shipping week, for which a pre-order has been placed and a shipping cost corresponds to that order. All items that have arrived since the last closed shipment are sent, regardless of what order they were placed in. If a month is skipped, a shipment is skipped, respectively. Any late items from previous months are held until the next scheduled shipment."

"When regular monthly orders are no longer placed, all late releasing items are held for one final shipment at no extra cost to customers living in the contiguous 48 states. International customers will be charged actual shipping costs for final completed shipments.

When a customer places multiple orders in one month, each order will be assessed a separate shipping charge. Additional shipping charges will not be refunded if multiple orders are placed within one month. "

Hope that covers your question. I found this out by not placing an order one month and wondered why I had "next shipment" books not being shipped. I was curtly told that I should have read the FAQ. lol

In other news . . . I’m struggling with reading From Hell. It’s interesting but so slow and the occasional genitalia throws me off. I’m half way through and considering dropping it . . . There’s just too many on the shelf that need a read. Worth sticking to?

Erik, it’s been awhile since I’ve read it, but i don’t recall it getting any better. I found the Annotations helpful to understand what he was thinking with certain panels and plot threads. However, having to read that to understand what is going on in the story isn’t a good sign.
