What have you added to your collection recently?
Yes, I’m wondering why they decided that the year with the Pandemic was a great time to put out a ton of expensive collected editions...
Those decisions are made many months in advance, they had no idea an pandemic would happen at that point.
Don't know about planning of releases, but Marvel these days is printing many many new releases but the number of printed books per release is getting lower and lower... in general, any Marvel Omnibus now gets OOP within 6 months or less now (could also be due to more people buying, but again would be solved with more books printed
Bruno wrote: "Don't know about planning of releases, but Marvel these days is printing many many new releases but the number of printed books per release is getting lower and lower... in general, any Marvel Omni..."That is true, and apparently that was because the printers had trouble with handling orders of large quantities (because of lack of resources due to the pandemic). However David Gabriel confirmed on a live stream yesterday that the printing quantities will now be back to normal.
There's a giveaway for the Doomsday Clock Collection if you are interested:

Tell me about it. I ordered both Absolute Swamp Thing volumes, Peter David Hulk vol 2, and Infinity Gauntlet. Truly painful day for the old wallet.
Well that was a stressful 30 minutes of ordering. By the time I placed the third book in my cart, the site started to slow down. It even failed on that last book so I reloaded and added it again. Despite it saying there was an error, there were 2 copies of the book in my cart. What followed was a bunch of heart palpitations and hair pulling trying to get the cart updated and placing the order.
Didn't even bother looking for any other books.

Ha, I got the David Hulk omni and Infinity Gauntlet omni covers I wanted loaded into my CART but couldn't check out with them or with the Absolute Swamp Thing 2 in my cart, so eventually just went back and loaded the other covers and dropped Swamp Thing and it went through.... hardcover comics drama!
Just ordered the new Firefly DLX and the latest Doom Tpb.
Finished reading the War of the Realms omnibus. The main story to the end of the event was only about the first 20% of the book. The rest was tie-in books and mini-series. Really dislike this organization. There is no mystery left to the story after you finish the end of the event and then have so many tie-ins that don’t matter.
What they did with Daredevil was surprisingly interesting. Liked Frank Castle being featured but hated that broke his word to someone in his mini-series.

Like the rest of you, really had a hard time navigating IST today. I'm finally joining you weekly orderers, and it took me almost an hour to get everything loaded. While I was waiting, I also checked out CGN and picked up some books there. So, with those two orders plus an Ebay score and Amazon, I've got coming:
Infinity Gauntlet Omni (IST)
Conan the Barbarian Omni vol 4 (sold out on IST, special order CGN)
Silver Surfer Omni that must have sold out quickly this summer, but got a good price for it on Ebay.
Doomsday Clock Complete Collection (Amz)
I also got the latest two volumes of Dawn of X and some older trades I missed out on and needed (a Daredevil by Waid, House of M, and Batman Detective Comics Vol 1 Mythology).
I generally prefer the TPBs over the HCs, and like Omnis for events and older collected material. I quit reading Marvel for a few years and now I'm trying to go back and fill in some gaps and my wallet is groaning under the stress.
The NY Times writer on graphic novels, comics, etc, George Gustines, tweeted a pic the other day of a puzzle he was doing that looked like an Ivan Reis image done for DC Rebirth, so grabbed one of those, too. There's a nice Marvel one, too, but didn't recognize the artist. Maybe I'll get this one framed for my library!
I wasn’t interested in any of the new releases today, and other than any DM covers that may have been available, looks like all the books mentioned in the last few posts are still available on IST? Hoping today’s issue was more learned behavior from the last several weeks—everyone trying to buy at the same time, and not severely limited stock. I’ve got my eye on the Excalibur vol. 1 DM variant coming in the next few weeks and don’t want to miss out. Nice pick-ups Joseph, and Rel, that sounds annoying about the War of the Realms book. I think Absolute Carnage is organized the same way? For these cases I always end up creating my own reading order with color-coded bookmarks to overcome. Don’t mind having to do that, but wonder why Marvel is organizing omnis like this...
Random question as I consider restructuring my library:What is the internal shelf height of a kallax? I can easily find overall height, but nowhere does it show me the internal height. Specifically, will my Remender HCs and Absolutes fit in a Kallax? Or will those need something else?
I'm looking at going with four of the 5x5 units if I transition. That would replace my current 7 bookcases that are suffering from severe shelf sagging. I wouldn't have much room for newer acquisitions though, so I might need to find a way to make use of my higher ceilings by stacking on top of the 5x5s.
Again late to the party, but David’s hulk and Absolute swamp 2 were still available . . . Maybe we are getting back to normal stock numbers?
Tigertemprr wrote: "Absolutes and Remender OHCs fit inside Kallax cubes with ~1/2" room to spare."Perfect! Thank you.
Sorry to post this here, slightly off topic but it seemed as good a place as any. I recently bought Sandman Omni Vol 1, and the spine has the “DCVertigo” logo. From what I’ve seen, vol 2 has just a “Vertigo” logo. Anyone know which specific version of volume 2 would match, or does it even exist yet?
Strangly, the DM Hulk omnibus now is readily available on IST, but neither Infinity Gauntlet is but its also not listed on the top 10 seller list... and Absolute Swamp Thing 2 is easily clickable now.
Ryan, Id bet that for the foreseeable future any new Omni from the vertigo era will be labeled as Black Label.
Looks like Absolute Swamp Thing 1 and 2 are at IST. I ordered them previously from CGN. Has anyone gotten them yet from CGN or know if they received a shipment like IST did? No response to email on the subject at this point. :(

I emailed IST to ask if there would be some type of exchange program for the upcoming reprint of the Silver Surfer Omnibus. It's been over a week and I haven't received any type of response.
I know some watch nearmintcondition and David is on there, I'm wondering if there was any talk about it or are they just going to reprint and the originals buyers are SOL?
Read that some people were able to return it to IST right after they bought it but I didn't want to if there wasn't going to be a reprint.

I returned mine to IST about a week after the news of the misprints broke. They gave me a prepaid label and they had the book within a few business days. It took two weeks for them to acknowledge that they had received it but they gave me a full refund. Word on the street is that a corrected copy will drop mid November, but it hasn’t appeared on ISTs calendar. Not sure if it will have a different ISBN, but I’m sure IST and other shops will differentiate. I’d try to return before then if possible, since I doubt negotiating an exchange would be an easy thing in the current climate. It been taking about a week to hear back from their CS, so don’t fret. I myself have an email into them for something else and am trying to be patient!
Darth Bane wrote: "Not sure if it will have a different ISBN...."It will not, the reprint will have the same ISBN as the faulty version.
Glad you folks are talking about this. I am hoping to grab the surfer Omni also but don’t want to get stuck with the misprinted one.
Having the same ISBN is what I heard also. I was hoping that Marvel would have an exchange program for the distributors so we could send them back. I certainly don’t blame IST but they are the ones that have to deal with the situation.
My dear friends, I’ve made a mistake... after days kicking around the idea of collecting Usagi Yojimbo in the DH saga books or wait for the Idw HCs in color, I found Renior out out special editions hardcovers and there was a volume 3-4 in a slipcase (in Italian) with the same design as the Fantagraphics English slipcase. I thought maybe it was mislabeled on Amazon and I could just get the fantagraphics set for cheap in Italian. That was kind of stupid. So what it is, Renior printing must own all the rights to Usagi stories in Europe so vol. 1-2 do exist and they are the Fantagraphics issues, but then 3-ongoing are actually the DH years, so really I bought the DH saga book 1 and 2 in Italian. So after trying to figure out how to collect Usagi I managed to find an even more complicated new way. I think I’ll keep it as a novelty and still not sure whether to get the DH Saga collections or whatever the new IDW will be.Finally note, you can find a Stan Sakai post saying all the DH books will be reprinted, which really just makes sense for DH - why seed all that to IFE when instead of letting them have all the active Usagi content, you could reprint what you have.
The annual Goodreads Choice Awards is now open for folks to vote for the best books of the year broken down by genre. I'd encourage people to vote in the Graphic novel section including writing in your best book published in the last year if necessary.
It always seems the selection for our genre is a bit out of left field.

I guess now I have to decide if I want to get Lucifer V2. I liked V1 but I don’t know if it was enough to get V2. Does anyone know if the story gets significantly better?
Hopefully that Batman is finally available.

IST made updates to their server settings prior to last Tuesday aimed at correcting an issue that was causing double payments for some users selecting PayPal as their payment method. I'm hoping that was the cause of the extremely slow checkout process and that they've made additional changes to correct how slow things were.
Interesting about Paypal. I used to always use that but with the site slowdowns in recent weeks I didn’t want to risk the extra login time.
Hey everyone. Wonder if you can help me out? Just moved over to the states and trying to get used to ordering books without being able pre-ordering them.
Am I right in thinking you just have to be real quick on IST and CGN on Tuesdays?
Also, does anyone know if the Infinity Gauntlet & Absolute Carnage Omni are going to come back in stock.
I'm guessing things are all over the place because of Rona but thought I'd ask you guys.
Thanks for the advice, always appreciated!
I’m not sure about Infinity Gauntlet but Absolute Carnage is definitely coming back in stock later this month.

Yep, those are your best bet if you don't want to pre-order. Tales of Wonder isn't bad either. Amazon, but their packaging is terrible.
Stock seems to have improved a little bit. DC is going through some changes so they are up in the air right now, IMO.

Thanks, I'll check out Tales of Wonder.
I love a pre-order but Amazon seems to be double CGN & IST
Just grabbing the Venomibus this week

CGN has their listings for the week on Mondays, usually by 12pm eastern time, often before that.
Well, ordering on IST took just over 20 minutes instead of 50 minutes this time. A minor improvement but still way too long.
Ordered Promised Neverland TPB vol 17, Reavers TPB vol 2, and some odds and ends off my wish-list (Blame Master Edition vol 5 was the only sorta expensive edition on my list today).

Logged onto CGN 5 minutes after ordering opened, and the DM variant for Venomnibus vol 3 was already out of stock. Big sad.. But picked up the regular one.

Yes, its the new colored edition... im a sellout :D (I also only have BONE colored edition).
2020 its been a very big year in collected edition releases, and these days if you don't buy when it comes out, it gets OOP very very very very quickly :(
