What have you added to your collection recently?

- The X-Men Omnibus vol. 2
- X-Men: Inferno Omnibus (finally!)
- Giant Size X-Men #2 signed by Neal Adams
- Days of Future Past lithograph signed by Terry Austin
- Still waiting on a Gil Kane autograph I bought
...and I upgraded from my old Len Wein sig. to a awesome original sketch/signature of Wolverine by Len Wein, CBCS slabbed. Definitely pumped about this one the most, and can't wait to get it hung on my wall.

Thanks Rel

A few more pickups for March for me... I got my first artist edition, the Jim Starlin Cosmic Marvel "Artifact" Edition. Basically collecting some of his Captain Marvel and Warlock runs. It's really interesting to see the art with this level of detail in original size, showing all the white-outs, comments, etc. I think I've opened Pandora's box, though, as I'm now looking into other artist editions and these things aren't cheap!
Also grabbed the Motor Girl Omnibus from Terry Moore and the trade for BPRD Vampire. I'm expecting BPRD Hell On Earth Vol 5, Harrow County LE 2 and The Thanos Wars Omnibus to arrive soon in the post.

Since it’s a clusterf$@k, I don’t have to reread it for deeper meaning and can enjoy it as a well constructed book with great art and fun weirdness that I can just flip through from time to time.
Agreed on Jodorowsky. I love it thought. Check out metabarons, some ridiculous fun.
Also, huge recommendation, watch Jodorowskys Dune. It’s a documentary. It’s wonderful and gave me a huge appreciation and understanding as to why it doesn’t matter when a film doesn’t follow a book/comic to a tee.

Probably best to be quick if you want the DM variants of Savage Sword of Conan or Avengers omnibus vol 4 on IST....
Both the last Direct Market Marvel variants (Conan and Captain Marvel) sold out very quickly. Not sure if the Avengers volume will but Conan seems pretty likely.
Other HCs of note out today:
Harrow County Library Edition vol 2
Angel Claw HC (Mobius)
BPRD Hell on Earth HC vol 5
Polar HC vol 4

Looks like the Savage Sword of Conan variant sold out in about 20 minutes.
Edit to add... and then it came back with a "Limit One Per Customer" tag.

thanks for that. For some reason I thought the Avengers omnibus was next month and wasn't even going to look at what went on sale today. Bought the Neal Adams version.

Got what I wanted. I think the people gobbling up the Marvel Conan Omnis will be in for a big surprise when/if they ever try to resell. I think most are grabbing these due to the DH colossal, which isn’t the same at all. Only the DM Variants are selling out, the regular versions are still available of the all the recent Marvel Conan books.
Savage Sword variant showing sold out again. Avengers omnibus vol 4 variant still available. I wouldn't be surprised if that one lingers a bit as people that bought the first few often drop out so the demand drops a bit.
I suspect you are right about the Marvel Conan omnibus volumes. I didn't buy the first one but picked up a copy of Savage because I've heard for years about the art being really good. The variants tend to hold their value a little bit better so if I don't like it I should be able to get even or better value back for it eventually.

I find if you buy books, statues etc, if you always go in thinking you’ll likely lose a little on resale and consider the difference payment for your use and enjoyment, you’ll rarely be disappointed.
Then when a big hit comes in your favor, nothing but smiles.

Great advice. :)
Both variant covers sold out now. I am curious if a quick sell out like this is going to be more common. I've seen some of them linger for many months but the last four sold out quickly.

So it looks like if I want the Battle Angel Alita box set, I’m gonna have to shell out $150+. Can anyone who has it and read it verify that it’s worth it?
You could buy the 6 individual deluxe volumes for about $120 (all but volume 1 on IST). Having read the whole box set, I liked it but would not spend $150 for it. It might be worthwhile to buy volume 1 on Amazon and read it to see what you think?

Yes sir, the deluxe volumes are the same volumes that are in the box set. $150 for the box set is $25 a book. The individual volumes are available a few dollars each cheaper. Here is volume one: https://www.amazon.com/Battle-Angel-A...
Is BPRD Hell on Earth HC vol 5 the last one for the story?

Good to know. I read the first two HCs and then paused figuring I would pick up again once I had all of the story.
I ordered BPRD Hell on Earth HV vol 5, Harrow County Library Editions vol 2, Abara Complete Deluxe HC (sampling more manga in one of the few available in hardcover), and Seven to Eternity TPB vol 3.

Individual seems to be the cheapest on Amazon with Prime . . . went to get the first one and Amazon alerted me that I could read volume 1 for free digitally!!! How great is that?! Started it last night and if I like it enough will just get the individual volumes . . . I don't need the special art slips that I'll look at once and never again.
There is a best selling comic from Sweden that recently had the first chapter translated and published in English titled "Vei". Curious if anyone has read it and has thoughts on it?
It is not available on IST but is on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Vei-Vol-Sara-B...

Interestingly, IST is charging 8 extra dollars for it and only 1 per customer.
Also picked up BPRD HOE 5, 20th century boys 3, and (to keep my valiant set complete before it sells out) Faith Deluxe 1.
I think the Thanos Wars Infinity Origin omnibus shares some content with the Guardians of the Galaxy Solo omnibus. Which contains: Collecting INCREDIBLE HULK (1968) #271 and ANNUAL #5; IRON MAN (1968) #55; CAPTAIN MARVEL (1968) #27-33, #43-44 and #58-62; STRANGE TALES (1951) #180-181; WARLOCK (1972) #9-11 and #15; AVENGERS (1963) #219-220 and ANNUAL #7; MARVEL TWO-IN-ONE ANNUAL #2; MARVEL PREVIEW #11; MARVEL SPOTLIGHT (1979) #1-2 and #6-7; MARVEL PREMIERE #61; ROCKET RACCOON (1985) #1-4; and STAR-LORD SPECIAL EDITION - plus material from TALES TO ASTONISH (1959) #13; LOGAN'S RUN #6; MARVEL PREVIEW #4, #7, #14-15
vs the new edition Thanos Infinity Origin Omnibus which collects:
IRON MAN (1968) #55, CAPTAIN MARVEL (1968) #25-34, MARVEL FEATURE (1971) #12, AVENGERS (1963) #125, STRANGE TALES (1951) #178-181, WARLOCK (1972) #9-15, MARVEL TEAM-UP (1972) #55, AVENGERS ANNUAL #7, MARVEL TWO-IN-ONE ANNUAL #2, MARVEL GRAPHIC NOVEL #1 and material from DAREDEVIL (1964) #105 and LOGAN'S RUN #6.

I got my copy of volume one of Berserk in last night. The story is begun differently than in the animated film version as we are coming in later in the main character's life. The description on the paper slip attached to the book uses the word "horrified" to describe how fans have reacted to the book (among other descriptive words). After reading it, I can see why that word is accurate.
The book itself is very well put together. My copy has two bumped corners but otherwise withstood the Amazon shipping well and looks great on the shelf. Ready for volume two.

What did you think of Beserk? Interested in hearing from anyone else sampling it for the first time. :)
I'll wait till the end of the week but hoping to pick up Death and Return of Superman and Absolute Scarlet.
If anyone is thinking about sampling some of the very popular Scrooge McDuck comics - Don Rosa's vol 1 HC that comes out today is where I would recommend you start.

Imperium DLX looks like it got moved backed.
Didn’t crack into my berserk yet, started reading 20th century boys instead. I’m loving it and posted a review for the first volume.
Pickups, grabbed the Avengers box set. I wasn’t too impressed with the story offerings, but the box set is the same quality as the gauntlet box set and I’m a sucker for those at IST prices.
Definitely grabbed Absolute Scarlet today as I won’t let a hole happen in the absolute collection.
I have the last printing of Death and Return of Superman and love it. If someone says it has better bonding or anything different, I may grab the new volume. The only difference I see is the new volume has one extra Superman issue.

I had preordered Berserk DLX on Amazon and for the very first time they couldn‘t deliver. Trying now to grab one at cover price in mainland Europe. Difficult.
Added Infinity Gaunlet and Dark Phoenix Saga to get some 70s and 80s vibes. Dark Phoenix isn‘t exactly a page turner, I have to say.
Also reading Promethea now, it is actually a great read up until issue #4, hopefully it holds up.

Word on the street is Berserk vol 1 is being reprinted as the first printing sold out nearly immediately.
There are seven Hellboy Library editions (1 thru 6 and Hellboy in Hell). I have them all but need to read volume 5 since it was sold out when I picked them all up.
I read the Swedish comic vol 1, Vei. Good artwork and it's different take on the Norse gods and humanity's relationship with them as seen through the eyes of one of the giant's human champions. This book is oversized.
I also read the new Sword of Ages vol 1 hardcover. The artist/co-author from Locke and Key is both writing and drawing the book. It's a re-imagination of the Arthurian sword in the stone/Camelot myth set in a sci-fi fantasy world. Really enjoyed this book and the art is well done. Very interested in continuing the series (which the author hinted may be six books similar to the first volume). One of the few drawbacks for this is the book is standard size, just barely bigger than a TPB. There are some battle scenes that would really benefit from larger pages and hopefully someday we will see are larger edition - but that could well be years away.

Also got Paper Girls 2, Infinity War Omnibus, and because I had an extra 3% discount got the old SHIELD Omnibus to see the Steranko art.
FYI: you would know by the page count, but the Infinity War Omnibus is gigantic, like close to X-Statix size and of course beautifully bound despite the size.

Nice one, he'll fucking love it.
I received my copy of Middle-Earth Journey's In Myth and Legend yesterday. It's published by Dark Horse and it's massive. Larger than a slipcased Absolute at just over 14 inches tall and just over 10 inches wide. It features Lord of the Rings inspired paintings and sketches by artist Donato Giancola. He's done over 200 fantasy and sci-fi novel covers and won three Hugo best artist awards. From the book description: "Donato has made it his life's work to translate Tolkien's words into compelling visuals, with gorgeous oil paintings and drawings reminiscent of Rembrandt and Caravaggio. His interpretations of Middle-earth span his entire career, from private commissions to the 2001 edition of the graphic novel adaptation of The Hobbit, all collected in this massive compendium--a must-have for collectors of Tolkien and fantasy."
A neat book if you are a Tolkien fan. I would say one bit of a drawback for me was there were a lot of pen and ink type sketches in the book compared to the number of paintings.

My next 3 purchases will probably be Mister Miracle, Imperium, and ASM omni 4. In the meantime, reading and enjoying Ex Machina - kind of love these giant books honestly.

Your welcome.

I'll likely order a copy of the Cates' Doctor Strange with my next order. I've liked what I've read from Cates so far.

I love being able to read years worth of comics at one go in a collected edition. But, I wonder if sometimes being forced to read something one issue at a time with time gaps in between would make us think about and analyze the content and get more out of it (the same would apply to TV shows where we binge watch instead of watching episodes a week at a time)? I think I came out of The Incal with a lot of similar thoughts - I expected a little more philosophical complexity. Perhaps some of my expectations were based on feedback about it's complexity that should be understood in light of when it was written. In the early 80s there wasn't much out there with the kind of social commentary/satire in the regular comic book world? Nowadays it's pretty common.
I don't think I read the Inhumanity OHC - you'll have to let us know what you think. They did a lot to hype the Inhumans and published several OHCs of their content. I'm disappointed they had a death of the Inhumans event and so far there is just a TPB with no solict or anything for any type of oversized collection.
Did anyone reading cosmic marvel read the Black Order mini-series and can give me feedback on when I should custom bind it with my Lemire/Cates Thanos and Infinity Wars bind?
