Awesome Stephen, and welcome!! I am certainly interested in your book and I know we all feel privileged to have another author (we see you Father & Roy) on here...wow!
Can't wait to pick your brain on some things....firstly, have you read the Creature From Jekyll Island and books of that nature? What do you think about the fact that we really have no currency, just glorified IOUs, lol. Also, the fact that our currency isn't backed by anything?
Seems like that's stuff right up your ally, I'm in the middle of doing my research and reading on it so can't wait to add your books (and posts) to the arsenal!

I can't claim to have read The Creaure from Jekyll Island. The vast majority of my reading has been non-fiction. My friends say that it is somewhat odd that I choose to use a fiction format to make my case for "The Road to the Third World".
The dollar is a subject of much conjecture and debate in our current economic climate. The fact that we have a fiat currency has proven to be a tremendous windfall to our political and business leaders who have used the power to print money to benefit their personal objectives. As a result, the dollar is being devalued against many of the world's other cirrencies even as the FED is dropping interst rates and issuing hundreds of billions of dollars in the hopes of averting a financial meltdown. I fear all that they are doing is further devaluing the dollar and setting the stage for future hyperinflation. Our country is in dire financing condition having exported our industries and jobs, imported far too many consumer products, overproduced far too many dollars and exposed all of us to the housing crisis and the mortgage debacle. And the whole mess can be laid at the feet of unbridled capitalism, consumate greed and the misuse of the power to manufacture money.
We should all be outraged by the current events, but we remain docile to the political, economic and social abuses which have the ability to destroy our great country.
I wanted to introduce myself to the group. I joined this group because I was struck by the mission statement--I certainly am tired of being spoon fed bullshit, and I like the idea of being around people who feel the same.
Presently, I am on a campaign to wake up Americans to the self serving forces of government and business who inadvertantly are destroying our country. We are living through a period of financial decline and no one in our government seems to have the desire to solve the basic problems. Instead, we have been made to endure the idea that all is well and the fundementals in our economy are good!
Well, guess what? The old adage "liars figure and figures lie" seems to be the economic plan of our government and our major businesses. In my mind, this is the biggest pile of bullshit we must acknowledge and do something about. We can no longer afford the luxury of complacency!
In an effort to address the problem, I have written and published a novel titled "The Road to the Third World". The book, plots and characters are concerned with the political, economic and social consequences of the excesses of capitalism.
I challenge all the members of Project Mayhem to investigate our current economic problems, and open a dialogue within this group with the intent of doing something positive. I love our country, but I fear for the fate of my children, their children and our future posterity. I am a person who believes in hope and redemption, but it will not happen unless the American people pick up the gauntlet and fight for their heritage. Together, we can make a difference!
