Oh, my gosh, but this had such an inane premise. At first it seemed just like another funny teen book, although I wasn't keen on the narrator because I had a hard time buying him as a teen. I switched to the print edition. I thought that the protagonist was being tricked into taking a drug with this computer you swallow because the premise that you swallow a computer and then it talks to you is so asinine even in humour. I am also sick and doggone tired (I had another word in place of doggone, but am trying to be more polite) of this EVERYONE does stuff regarding sex and other things. Plus so many other clichés. I have read plenty of y/a geared for boys and girls and this one was definitely on the crass side.
As you can guess, I have no desire to see the musical based on this book.
The musical is 32948032x better than the book! Considered 'the first Gen Z musical', it does have an outlandish plot- but the whole book has a super fun referential tone to sci fi and video games.
