Two authors same name

There seems to be a problem with the author page for John R. Gordon, or rather the books from at least two authors have been combined in one page. One writes novels about black gay life in London, the other writes college physics texts! And I'm not sure if there isn't a 3rd John R. Gordon floating around in there who writes on economics. Would you be able to split out the author pages?

I have the same problem -- there are two Angela Penroses, me and a lady who co-wrote a nonfiction book on the Ethiopian famine. I write SFF. One of my books is linked to her profile.

Also, any advice for preventing this in the future? There are two more anthologies coming out this year with stories of mine in them -- what can I do to ensure they end up attached to me? Or is there anything I can do myself if they end up attached to the other writer, aside from asking someone here to please fix it each time?

ETA: Goodreads policy is to use extra spaces to disambiguate authors with otherwise identical names. You have claimed the profile Angela^^Penrose, where ^ is a space. The extra space is invisible to users but is necessary to ensure your books appear on your profile and not the default, single-space Angela Penrose profile. Unfortunately, other databases don't use the same system, so when Goodreads receives automated updates from these other data sources, your books may appear on the default, single-space profile IF they are not already here on Goodreads. The only way to really prevent this from happening in the future is to be proactive about adding books to the database yourself and making sure to include the extra space in your name when you do so. Otherwise, feel free to post here whenever you notice one of your books is on the wrong profile. That's something librarians are happy to fix. Authors do not have the necessary permissions to edit books not attached to their own profiles, only librarians.

Hi Chris - if you check on Google there are lots of people with the name Chris Hollis. The only way I could make myself different was to add my middle initial. It takes time for people to find you. Good luck.

Looks like it was just a cover illustrator anyway, so I deleted from the author listings & put in description, as per manual: "Cover artists should NOT be listed in the author fields. Cover artists may be noted in the description field."

#12: I've moved your book to Ebony^^Clark, where each ^ is a space. These spaces do not appear anywhere but the edit pages, and are essential to differentiate between same-named authors, so you'll need to put those spaces in or your books will be incorrectly sorted. When making requests to move books to your profile in future, please state that yours is the 2-space profile; it'll really help the librarians. :)

I am not clear on how to fix this.

David Kline (https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...) is an Amish farmer and naturalist. His name is NOT David A. Kline.

However, there's also a David Kline who is a silicon valley marketing guy, and when I try to fix the first David Kline's name, the system wants to merge the two.

How, short of leaving the bogus middle initial, do I fix this?

I tried spaces, which doesn't seem to work if you want to fix the problem globally.

and no matter if it's that's way on the cover - it would have been D.S. either as it's GR policy to have periods between initials so DS wouldn't be possible - I'm afraid.
Sorry for - for whatever reason - moving your book to the wrong profile .. was somehow irritated but didn't get why ... weird. Thanks for correcting my inattention Emy!
