So, I remember reading this book for school in 10th grade (2018).

It's about a guy who I think had family problems, so he ran away from home into a forest, He might have met people in the forest but I don't remember. He was on a boat for a while and ended up leaving the forest. He broke his leg or injured him in some way. He was hitchhiking and the guy driving noticed he was badly hurt so he took the guy to the hospital where he was interrogated.

I can't remember anything past that point.
It also might have been a diary type of book but i'm unsure.
