Dawn (authorddoyle) | 27 comments Hi.
When I logged in, I have only one book in my list. All of my other ones have been changed and are no longer showing up in my author list as my work. They're now showing up in three.
I changed my name from Dawn Doyle to Author. D. Doyle, as that's how my name appears on the covers of my newest works.
I made a note on my changes that I was in the process of changing my older covers to reflect this, but they have changed back to Dawn Doyle and no longer show up as my books.
It says 'new pen name D. Doyle' on the screen, but the books should be grouped together as mine, not three people.

lethe | 16359 comments When there is a name on a book cover it is usually clear that that is the author. Why would you have to put Author in front of your name?

Books first published under Dawn Doyle should have that name as (primary) author according to Goodreads policy.

Also, titles in author names (such as Dr., MD, and, I suppose, Author) are not allowed on Goodreads.

☕ Lachgas ♿ (lachgas) | 9386 comments Because Goodreads lists books always with the name they are published under.
If you change your pen name these books and all newer editions of them will still need the name they were first published with as their primary author name.
A newer/different name can only be secondary author on these books.

Just changing your officially approved author name is not the way to go with name changes.

Because somebody is already listed as D. Doyle, and it wouldn't let me use it.

Goodreads uses other ways of disambiguating authors with the same name.

Can they be restored back to how they were?

It wouldn't let me save the profile with that name. I tried a few times.
Can I just change it back to how it was in the beginning?

I think they are (i.e. author name as on the first published cover, editions with other versions of the name have that name added as secondary)?

If you want to change it back to Dawn Doyle, you will have to ask Goodreads.

I don't know how many D. Doyles there are, but if you want to change your profile to that, you can try changing it to D.^^Doyle (^ = space, so two spaces between D. and Doyle).
