Bumping of topics?

Is there any amount of time after which it is okay to "bump" a topic? I don’t see any policy about this, and I see a lot of other book issues that have been resolved in the almost 48 hours since I posted my most recent one. Is there a chance that it’s been overlooked and as such it might benefit from a "bump", or should I trust the process and leave it? Or should I make a new post repeating the request? If a bump or a new request is acceptable, how long should I wait before giving up on my existing one?
