I don't think Josh was involved in the threats. He is a belligerent alcoholic with no self control. His confrontation with Ellie shows that he is not subtle enough to be involved in threatening her. Corey Swann needs to be charged with accessory to murder, extortion, assault and harassment. Prison should teach him a lesson or two.
I agree Josh wasn't involved an any kind of back handed threatening of Ellie. His style is straight up in your face threatening. Corey needs to be held accountable for his crime and his part of covering up his daughter's crimes. We're seeing more cases where parents who knowingly ignore or hide bullying their kids are doing get slapped with accessory or some charges. Like I mentioned before the States are really cracking down on children bullying people.
At first I thought Corey and Josh were working as a team to cover up the bullying. But, I agree that Josh would probably threaten someone right to their face and not do it anonymously like Corey did.
I think Corey was a lone ranger in his threats towards Ellie. But, with that said, Josh confronting her at the rink was bizarre so jury is still out. I do believe that he and Corey were complicit in covering up the bullying, particularly in wiping Lindsay’s phone.
I agree 100% with Lauren on what should happen to Corey. Let him get a taste of some real bullying behind bars.

I believe both Corey and Josh knew about the bullying and the suicide cover up. They had the town convinced that Lindsey took her own life.
I read the next book five years ago and I don't remember if this is addressed. I do remember that the murder impacts the next book, but the mystery in it is totally unrelated.
